Shut down, uneconomical, cost over runs, failed to produce sufficient energy or returns to cover costs, dismantled and no buyer could be found for the surplus equipment. Landfill I suspect.

Dec 2019 was the start of 25th solar cycle. Not very good business starting a solar project near the end of cycle. Cycle 25 is forecast to be lower out put than the last one

Sad part is Med Hat (the city) has huge amounts of nat gas, and has been shutting down and reclaiming wells because there is no economically viable sale for it. Super cheap, clean energy with existing infrastructure yet they waste money on a pipe dream like this.

Saturn Power to Team with miEnergy to Build Saskatchewan’s First Utility Scale Solar PV Facility

Saturn Power Inc, a Canadian renewable energy developer, has selected Saskatoon-based miEnergy to serve as General Contractor on Saskatchewan’s first utility scale Solar PV project. The Highfield Solar Project, located east of Swift Current in the Rural Municipality of Coulee, will provide 10MW AC of solar energy to Saskatchewan’s energy supply. Site preparation for the project will begin in mid-August with construction scheduled to begin later in September.

Given current circumstances related to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Saturn continues to exercise an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our team members, their families and the local community. This approach focused additional importance in our choice of a local Saskatchewan contractor to avoid, where possible, unnecessary out of province travel for those working on site.
