It's in the Grain Act : Sec 61 (1) Subject to subsection (2), if grain is lawfully offered at a licensed primary elevator for sale or storage, other than for special binning, the operator of the elevator shall, at the prescribed time and in the prescribed manner, issue a cash purchase ticket or elevator receipt stating the grade name, grade and dockage of the grain, and immediately provide it to the producer.

The problem is nobody is enforcing it. As I have said a million times before you know who refused to fill the chairs and closed the Office of Ass't Commissioners or to establish a Grain Farmers Advocay Office and give them the power to enforce the Act. Like was advised in the Compas review.

There is so much that could be done In the Interest of Producers in this new marketing system but no will by anyone.

I don't know what happens when these Cos go into receivership protection. Did ILTA quit doing business when they knew their bond was maxed out? Was Naber Specialty Grains a different story.....not enough bond or equity in infrastructure to cover A/P to growers?

Not getting paid can mean the difference between profit and loss, or yet worse losing the farm.

Can't imagine it's a bed of roses for grain dealers dealing with certain countries either.
Some Merchant buyers are probably very trustworthy, some scheisters may not be worth the lead to eliminate them.

I hauled into Ilta for a customer the Friday before they went belly up. Doors were closed on the Monday after. He got his money, albeit 6 months late.

owner died suddenly a few months ago of a mass heart attack. Grandfather wants his dough back that he lent him and an ex wife wants her cut and current wife/widow and kids too and some law out of Dubai for a brother trying to get his paws on it....so a cluster f%ck
This true (cluster**** with one of the partners of Globeways) but not the reason these companies went down. I left this group of companies 2 years ago due to concern of this happening. Yes Hakan passed away, unfortunately at 50 years old. The problems they have with succession is unrelated to Globeways group folding.

Is the a Chief Commissioner yet? Ritz did away with the Office of Assistant Commissioners and down to Chief Commissioner and only 2 Ass't Commissioners. If there isn't a Chief do we really have anyone running it? We have a problem.

Didn't every link of the grain marketing chain get exactly what they wanted when marketing freedom was achieved?

Not paying grain producers for their grain is the equivalent of fraud and theft.
Company Principals, shareholders and Boards of Directors should be held to account, and not be able to hide behind corporations and BOD immunity. Maybe there would be less carelessness.

The problem is that so many of them don’t do it that if you want to move something you have to accept that’s the norm but it shouldn’t be.
