Got a 2" dump of snow here last weekend and now we have Indian summer, I guess.
Had a beautiful sunny week with up to 17C. Finished the corn yesterday, my crops are all off now. May be record early.
The whole year was a complete opposite of the past couple - no disease issues like 2 years ago and good finishes for all the crops. Last year everything was late and wet.
Corn and bean crops were phenomenal overall, in this part of the province. lots of 60 bushel beans and corn yields were commonly 220 bu and came off at 20 - 22% moisture.
Ours was just under the 200 - a huge record for us - likely lower than average for the area because the manure we applied was over-rated for available nutrients. A distinct rise on the yield monitor when we hit the full fertilizer application rate. An expensive lesson - tests pay dividends.
But the best news of all - last night our oldest son and his wife welcomed their first child into their home - a sixth grandchild for us. Our only granddaughter - THE Princess - should be well cared for by her brothers and cousins!
A great way to cap off a good season.Last edited by burnt; Nov 6, 2020, 12:13.

No better way to cap off a successful harvest than an expansion in the “herdâ€ðŸ˜‰

One thing covid has taught me is that i need something to do
Especially if i cant go to the beach
We had been filling our time with more travel but that was out, so the farm was the source of keeping me relatively sane.
The nice week we had this week allowed us to get everything washed, cleaned and put away the way we like to see it.
Hopefully the weather changes soon and the moisture starts to happen!!
Very grateful for everything agriculture provides us in these very weird times.

There’s always something todo at the farm. We never missed a day with Covid Schmovid from spare-time renovations to farm clean-Up. Couldn’t believe what a bunch of junk out behind the shed brought in at Dougally. Travel is looking near impossible for now, sure glad we travelled when we did.
