    All systems work with moisture.
In a drier yr roots go down not side ways.

        PH , 6.3 to 7 here .
        40 actual with wheat,
        20 - 30 phos
        Alone depending on moisture with
        Canola,
In addition I Have been spreading phos with
Sulphur, last couple of years. 20 -20 pre canola.
The price of Canola seed , you can buy a lot
Of P not in with the seed.
        Who knows ,?
I will do a banded sulfer phos test / compared
        Spread Next spring .
Then it probably won't rain and learn
        nothing anyway.
        I was.wondering if you maxed
Out p in seed row in cereal,
There would be left over for the canola
What is the absolute maxp , you
        Could seed place with wheat?
Had one field get a double dose of spread phos and
Sulphur, it was amazing. 13 inches of rain helped.

My strategy is to add a bit more then removal. I've been getting good results broadcast applying 11-52, especially on years when it's cheaper. Also putting an additional 20lb with the seed.
Year 1 broadcast 100 actual lb. P and 20 actual with seed. Remove 50 lb. with 50 bushel canola crop.
Year 2 20lb P with seed, remove 40lb with 80 bushel wheat crop.
Year 3 20 lb P with seed, remove 50lb with 50 bushel canola crop.

So over 3 years added 160lb and removed 140, net 20lb remaining.
Yields have been steadily climbing with this practice.
Only tillage is heavy harrow in the fall and wet areas in the spring before seeding.

Interesting to hear people's opinions about "fertilizing for the future" on rented land.

20-25 actual lbs max in seed furrow for canola, with disk drill, 40-5 lbs in cereals. soybeans not very responsive to applied P, so generally boost the P rate up year prior to where beans will go the following year.

I try to maintain a healthy residual P in soil, usually soil test each year for a general idea of whats available.

MRB fert a bit too far from seed in dry years.

2021 will be the 10th crop with the Bourg 3320 PHD QDA MRB. Look at all those degrees! Lol.
Where did the time go? Hard to wear out a sixty foot drill on 24-2500 acres. NFG STO are my degrees.

Interesting I also found by accident spreading phos appeared to really work. I had a couple tons left in the fall from spring and decided didn’t want to piss around storing it and worrying about caking so spread it out the. Next year a clear darker green on the canola. Never did an actual yield precise but I would guess 8 to 10 bushels. And I applied the same with the seed that spring across the field. Spread or not the fall prior. So maybe it was just more available the next spring? I don’t know.

I find that interesting as well .
Every ag text book and agronomist says that should never happen.

                        Interesting.
Last year had a screw up at the plant. Seeded 2-1/2 fields with no phos in the seed row blend. Company at their expense floated 50lbs product.
Canola that year you could see the line.
                        Late and green. Obviously.
This year the wheat was noticeably higher in yield. Makes you wonder if we're using enough phos.

How come nobody noticed hat there was no phosphate? I would think that would bo pretty noticeable.

It’s a toss up. Side band is alittle too close in a dry spring

single pass 1870 Zero Till, Our 210024 S goes with P/K in with NH3 high pressure liquid band 1.5-2" below and 3/4-1" to side of separate seed row opener going 3/4" deep on canola row v packed then rolled. Like was said P becomes much more available with nH3-S. Fight through trash at proper angle and good harvest management... good trash straw cover is big bu in bin! Go slow [4mph] and save the seed bed... and NH3
