Florida votes to increase minium wage to $15.00

Florida Amendment 2. Raise Minimum Wage
Raises the minimum wage to $10.00 per hour effective September 30th, 2021 and then increases it annually by $1.00 per hour until the minimum wage reaches $15.00 per hour in 2026 and then reverts back to being adjusted annually for inflation.

    60.8% yes, 39.2% No

Its interesting that in a state that is Republican that many of those Republicans voted to increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour.

Now compare that to Saskatchewan where our minimum wage is only $11.45 per hour and slowly rising. In Alberta it is $15.00. In Manitoba it is 11.65.

To be fair put it in same dollars....15 dollars USD is currently 20 bucks cdn ...just for clarity of the conversation...

Some people will get confused on the whole issue.

you cant hide the exchange in the basis of wages...can you....

I think its notable that a large majority of Floridians support a higher min. wage. Are the majority of Floridians more progressive on this issue than us?

Put to a vote here we might get similar results.

But left to a conservative government in Saskatchewan and Manitoba our minimum wages are low.

But not as low as Alabama and Mississippi which have no state minimum.

Take a look at all the US states below.

What do these questions have to do with marketing? Should they not be done on the crop production forum? Amazing the people who complain about non marketing posts when a political view does not align with their views but then go to try to distract and disrupt a tread with non marketing questions.

It is interesting how the urban - rural divide exists not only in Canada.

Every one is entitled, has rights, feels Govt should look after them.

I have no solutions here either. Seems like the only solution is great harm and hurt, and that’s not fun or a solution.

Whats all this bullshit about lefty supremacy? LOL

Don't you live in a province where Sask Power, Sask Energy and SaskTel, crown corporations owned by the people of Saskatchewan provide utilities and phone service at a lower cost than our neighbors to the west in Alberta? Especially for many rural residents who would be disadvantaged in a privatized system.

The Saskatchewan Party supports continued public ownership of these crown corporations and they are widely supported, so who are you calling left my friend?

Don't you also use public health care, send your kids to public school and drive on government roads all paid for by tax payers?

I hear that argument all the time about irrigation ...One thing is for sure ---I receive no benefit from publicly funded irrigation projects !!! That taxpayers are still subsidizing ....

Yup, too bad everyone didn't pay the same amount of money for all those "social services".

Welfare recipients get to use the healthcare system, schools, etc as much as people who earn a living and pay taxes at the highest income tax brackets
