Don't you live in a province where Sask Power, Sask Energy and SaskTel, crown corporations owned by the people of Saskatchewan provide utilities and phone service at a lower cost than our neighbors to the west in Alberta? Especially for many rural residents who would be disadvantaged in a privatized system.

Chuck2, Alberta has a $15 minimum wage, has it increased employment? Has it lifted people out of poverty? The difference is in Alberta an NDP government got elected with 38% of the vote and imposed an increase in the minimum wage, in Florida they at least got to vote on it and it will be implemented because the majority of those who voted wanted it!

And Republicans who supported Trump in Florida also voted for increasing the minimum wage. So it goes to show you that even in Florida there is broad support for making sure everybody gets a decent wage.

Yup there might be some job losses. But when more people have more money they usually spend it which will also benefit the economy and improve their quality of life.

In a progressive tax system higher earners have more capacity to pay taxes. A lot of the people who have low incomes and don't pay as much income tax, have low incomes because of factors beyond their control. There are lots of single parents who have very few choices. Lots of mentally and physically disabled people as well. And lots of people who have lost their jobs.

It's to everybodys advantage to live in a society where people have a good standard of living with a roof over their head, heathcare, and stable life. That makes them healthier and more productive and more able to make a contribution. Having lots of very poor people barely getting by is not good for the economy.

Bad argument Hamloc because there are those on here that will point out the CWB was eliminated (without the vote that was promised to farmers by the government) by Conservatives who had also won less than 40% of the popular vote. If you want direct democracy and the popular vote determines every decision, farmers will never get another thing from any government.

So getting rid of the CWB was the primary reason you had for voting conservative in 2011 and you think that was the primary reason most people voted for conservatives then? (I had no idea the CWB was such a big issue in downtown Toronto or Quebec ridings that went Con) Well no wonder the Conservatives lost in 2015. They had accomplished everything the voters wanted from them. Must be the same reason the NDP lost in Alberta then since those who liked the $15.00 an hour min wage which was promised in the platform and which they voted for was passed therefore no reason to vote NDP again.

Chucky has you there caseih, commodity marketing is mostly politics. I'm sure you heard the expression wheat is 13% protein 87% politics. And yes, there is a crop production forum, so you don't have to clutter this one.

The main consideration is how much is the cost of living in Florida. Exchange is pretty much irrelevant. Saskatoon is no Miami.

lol! It is hilarious when the best rebuttal that a poster can come up with is an insult and personal attack.

Really??? Okay ELI5 how you were able to vote on the future of the CWB if it was not by proxy by voting for the Conservative party in 2011? If you equate your conservative vote was a vote for getting rid of the CWB, you are proving the point I made with Hamlock comment that it could be argued Albertan's did vote for $15.00/an hour rage because that was clearly defined in the NDP platform Which led me to point out that direct democracy voting is bad for farmers because we will never have the numbers to win popular support votes. That was my argument and the point I was trying to make when entering his discussion. How is that insulting? What was your point when you posted: "Oh you loose your job? Sorry. No regrets here"

Democracy is a failing governance system. Nobody votes for what Is right but rather votes for what Is better for them. With the Florida economy on the downturn and more workers working for minimum wage of course they will vote for higher wages. I guess we are lucky they didn’t ask to vote for $30/hr minimum wage.

employees will always outnumber employers and thus begins a cycle of increasing minimum wages that ultimately crashes the system...which may not be far away

The Saskatchewan Party supports continued public ownership of these crown corporations and they are widely supported, so who are you calling left my friend?

Don't you also use public health care, send your kids to public school and drive on government roads all paid for by tax payers?
Not following your argument here. I pay personal and corporate income taxes. I pay GST. I pay PST. I pay fuel tax on a portion of my fuel. I pay “school taxes” on my land. I’ve paid my way fair share for public services. What makes you think I cannot use them? Can everyone say the same thing in this province? Heck I pay school tax on land and don’t even have kids in school....

Is Electricity or Gas or Telephone actually cheaper in Saskatchewan? Actually Alberta was cheaper in 2018 by a huge amount. 2019 its close. Guess you have some cut and paste to do....
