It’s this half ass attitude that took us to the lock downs.
So in Manitoba, they mandate masks and a week or so later the cases increase 4-fold. Then our "top politicia..err..doctor Roussin claims there would be twice as many more cases without masks.
I mean, in farmer terms, if the salesman sold you a new fungicide that was supposed to work on leaf disease in wheat and a week after you apply it the disease takes over your crop. Salesman takes a look and says, "ya, well, if you hadn't put it on it would be twice as bad".
I'm sure we would all add that salesman to our christmas card list and prebook the same product for next year on the spot!

Maybe they are both right? Hard to say, but can anyone blame anyone else for being skeptical?

Dr. Roussin also was asked why there are so few influenza cases in Manitoba. His answer? "Well, it's because of all the precautions we are taking, that is limiting the spread". Then in his next breath he starts to accuse Manitobans of not following the precautions and spreading covid.

The politicians like Pallister and Roussin keep blaming "the people" for spreading it but the only examples in the news are PCH's and Stony Mountain Pen. Places that are either government run or managed.
I don't like masks but I wear them when I have to and avoid close contact. Everyone I know does the same. I still don't personally know anyone that has or has had covid. I know second hand of a few people that have had and recovered from it.
Now everything is shut down, even my kids hockey and figure skating, oh wait, but school is still no problem, off you go!

I think people are allowed to take issue with what's going on when you hear stuff like this.

But then again as you ridicule you say you wear one have to wonder if that’s said in appeasement or fact. But anyway as far as risk and I don’t really know what you do based on your confusing remarks and I don’t care. All I say and many people do the same I don’t buy anywhere that doesn’t take this seriously. How effective it is I don’t really know the exact number but no way someone coughing or sneezing wirh a mask on spreads more than someone who doesn’t, don’t require a doctor to figure that out. Whether that’s when I see them or don’t see them handling food. That’s just my opinion.
It’s just like rhe restaurant business some complain about the restrictions but soon realize if people aren’t confident that a restaurant is doing all it can to ensure safety you can have zero restrictions and not enough people will go there. What they will tell you is people will go only if they feel the restaurant is doing it’s upmost best that they can.
I m sure your doing your best.
How about the people on here decide who is condescending who, with yet more personal attacks?

Polio crippled tens of thousands of Canadians until the vaccine was introduced. It used to be called "infantile paralysis" or "the crippler"; because it could permanently damage nerve cells that control muscles."
It took over 60 years from when polio was introduced, to when a vaccine was developed.

Obviously with more money and concentration, they are able to expedite it now. But still no indications this will be completely safe.

Why would anyone trust Trump . Every word he speaks is a lie. She said she would take the vaccine if science said it was safe and effective. Spreading more of that B.S. is a Trump trick. He also said it would go away like magic. 240000 dead later.

Mandatory masks? As a rural person my take on this is that mask wearing is very spotty whether regulated or not in a lot of business. In places like Costco, they got most wearing masked fairly early on and most expect to wear there. In small town Sask Co-ops mask wearing by patrons or "staff" has been below 50% up till now. I was in Manitoba recently for business and mask wearing is good in some places and virtually non existent in other businesses. For me I don't like wearing masks but I would far rather wear a mask and have the ability to go into a business than have long lock downs. In my opinion the mask wearing does help the situation and if most people don't get on board with mask wearing in close contact in public then covid spread will not be curtailed as easy. One thing that I saw in Manitoba was the govt liquor stores have had a strict mask wearing policy and everyone was quick to put a mask on once reminded. The desire to buy booze outweighed their personal prerogatives in that case. One last thing, I know lots of people in North Dakota that had a very negative attitude about mask wearing. One of them lost a person close to them to covid and their attitude has changed now. A care home in Bottineau ND lost 17 people to covid a couple weeks ago. For me its not far from home and I am very concerned that things could get away on us up here too. Wearing a mask, and a little social distance is a pretty simple way to improve the odds of not getting or spreading covid.

Big difference between a handful of regular staff coming daily vs a larger number of people from different areas, situations etc. There is no control.

Also too many people, like lots on here that know better than everyone else and refuse to do the very minimal requirements to protect them. It is not hard to wear a mask and sanitize your hands... why resist, because you were told to?are you 5 yrs old?

People just can not be trusted to do what's right. Same story of life a few wreck it for everyone else. And this time it's the anti-mask crowd.

Bottom line sad situation for our seniors for sure.

It's all "ok" as long as the hospital system isn't overwhelmed. If it was, Saskfarmer3 would be most likely dead now given his age. Ponder that for a moment.

Wear a mask when getting the absolute necessities, otherwise stay home. It's not like you're being asked to go overseas carrying a gun, hungry and cold and getting shot at. You just have to stay home.

Not pro or anti mask, but wasn't Tam saying until a little while ago that masks didn't stop the spread?

Trump is literally in his lab, beakers in hand developing this vaccine.
He has also personally murdered every victim that has died of covid.

I never ridiculed a single soul. If you don’t want to wear a mask moose hunting, so be it. If you want to wear a mask moose hunting, go for it. Nothing against moose hunters with or without masks.

                          How fůcking hard is it?

When I don't have to I don't, when I'm asked to I do, even when I'm not asked to and think it's in my best interest...I do by choice.

People who live is seclusion might have a false sense of security or immunity, but when you're in higher infection areas I choose to take a precaution.

And nope, everyone isn't going to die from Covid but if you or someone close to you does and the end result could have been different because of a little risk mitigation..... you might wished you and others would have taken the issue a little more serious.

This too shall pass, but does it have to divide us?

                          ....how hard is it?

Another thought. I would rather follow the rules than be the one that has to make the rules. Has seemed like a bit of a gong show from the authorities I know but gotta cut them some slack also, the situation is new to everyone and they are doing what they feel is right. One wrong decision or omission and more people die than have to, its not easy at the top.

You must not be a small business owner, on the verge of bankruptcy.
Also no one seems to take the residual damage into account. Yes we can maybe save one or two 90 year olds. (Which should be a priority) But what about all the shuttered business owners. Trying to raise a young family, whose lives will be ruined?

A widespread uncontrolled out break will also potentially put many small businesses under and potentially overwhelm the healthcare system leading to further problems and fear.

With some support for the most vulnerable businesses maybe we can save some and help get them going again post covid? But we cant bring back the dead.
