    Wheat stocks as per Usda

See wheat stocks still at 320.5 million metric tonne and china “own” half the stocks on paper.

Hard to reasons for wheat to peg higher?

If china get up to any slippery bussiness and cancel etc could be frightening falls in prices?

Relax Mallee, grab some bubbly pops
Buy some grain bins, then you don’t have to sell all your production off the combine,
You will be rewarded over the next 11 months
Heck might as well spread out the grain deliveries, you have loads of time to seed and harvest so no rush

Play safe hope harvest goes well. 😊

        Thanks enjoy all opinions.

Historically here most grain say 80% is sold by April May if prices may rise replace on paper or focus on new crop. Grain is only held for up to 10 months if there are good reasons to.

Currently we are 8.5 out of 10. For wheat barley.

Canola 9/10 dunno if you guys ever get $600 on farm when oil bonuses priced in but no brainer why hold out for more?

Only downside beans lupins peas all about 6.5 to 7/10 so still above average.

Other factor we have had a few crook years cash is king

S we’ve discussed over the years no revenue insurance here crop failure suck it up princess

I also enjoy your, thoughts, views, opinions and especially market updates.

Here wealthy, multi generational farms might store grain for years, - so they don’t have to pay tax ( very poor reasoning or decisions).
if it’s storing grain for poor grades, underpriced grain compared to cost of production then its speculation or a investment, for me that’s the perfect reason to hold on to inventories.

Mallee, what is the situation with on-farm grain storage with a typical grain farm in Australia? What % of your production is in a bin on your farm after harvest?

Bucket has brought up this point where is Western Canadian farmers are different than other regions.

With the HEAT you seem to have, storage would be more risk. I get that part. Canola heating in the area in below zero temps!

Some store on farm some store in elevator system.

Mentioned fees for elevator delivery say November free till feb1 then 1.60 per month I think

Another no brainer here over the years if you have h1 wheat our best sell straight of combine always premiums erode quickly come April May it’s just wheat.

                  Malt barley same.

Inelastic demand every year once tonne secured down price goes whereas standard milling don’t lose value but of course lower priced to start with
