Universal Health care in Canada is a socialist program, you took advantage of and it, and it saved your life. Therefore, you would be classified as a hypocrite and a socialist.

Does anyone have a link to any government data that has the "source of infection" broken down? Did a real quick look through the Alberta data, and can't seem to find it...

The recent updates by Albertas CMOH have really stressed the need to avoid in home gatherings, and unregulated social settings over and over again.

If it turns out that most of the new infections are taking place outside of bars, restaurants, and shopping centers, but rather inside homes, and at social gatherings like birthdays, anniversary's, weddings, and funerals, I really don't see the need to lock small business down...

Perhaps it could even be counterproductive? If you cannot meet friends or family in a controlled setting like a bar or restaurant where things are regularly sanitized, social distancing is enforced, food is not communal, and drinks are mixed in a sanitary fashion, then you are likely to do so in a home setting. I think it's fair to say that SERIOUS covid fatigue is setting in, but provided that government provides appropriate avenues for social creatures to socialize, we can avoid driving it underground...

It would also seem that we deserve whatever we end up getting... The sheer stupidity of individuals certainly does not inspire confidence in the future of mankind.

Take for instance a very local event...

Individual A has an 80th birthday party. "A" likely doesnt plan anything out, but a number of individuals do, and so Individual "B", the son of "A" comes out from a designated hotspot in Alberta (Calgary) all the while feeling unwell, to an area that had up and until now ZERO cases.

"B" attends said birthday party where he proceeds to infect his father "A", his sibling's wife "C", his daughter in law "D", and "D"'s mother "E".

"A" ends up in hospital after collapsing at home from respiratory distress, "C" works in the health care industry and attends work as normal, perhaps suffering symptoms, but unsure. "D" has a small child and is pregnant with another. "C"s potential exposure in a health setting means mandatory testing for all personnel in the hospital as well as LTC patients who are attached to the hospital.

E's husband is fairly active in the community and attends numerous small functions and outings. Possibly exposing numerous individuals. C is likely the most dangerous vector!

B in their right mind should NEVER have left a covid hotspot.
C should have never reported to work

Two people were careless with the guidelines... the entire community will pay the price...

What was he supposed to do, stay home and die? Call in a veterinarian? Maybe go see a witch doctor? We don’t have private health care.

Am I out to lunch in thinking they are reasonably sensible measures?

It looks like the wife is effectively unemployed again as on the surface it seems like private piano lessons masked, and distanced as they were will no longer be allowed?

I'll likely have to pick up either the childcare responsibility, or the shopping responsibility, as it seems unlikely stores will be eager to count 3 children into their 25% of fire code, and she surely wont be able to drop them with the grandparents, even though there is no real way of avoiding contact with them as dad and I are actively farming in the same yard in the same operation...

But businesses that are very much struggling can still stay open. I got tortured at the dentist today, with everyone wondering whether this afternoons edicts would effectively shut it down again. It seems that they can stay open...

The measures will likely make NO-ONE happy... but what does these days?
