So seems like reading between lines youve got farmjers who are proffesional board sitter get 40k athrow know jackshitze and sit on many organisations.

Those types are not tolerated here.

I was active at our local level in years goneby but didnt aspire to gomto state level.

Our farm Organizations here basically some farmers on the board and other professionals with skill set that farmers think they have but reality they dont.

Pure farmers board achieve nothing and usual all like minded with same agenda.

Our farm board rolls every 4 years but many only dontwo fresh blood fresh ideas.

You may have the type over there farmers who think there a cut above everyone and are professional boardcsitters achieve jack shitze pull there pudcand get well paid for it. Those dinosaur types long gone here.

Debate on farm issues important but so is consencious. Our changes to single desk monopoly classic example took over three years of getting it right for orderly transition. Domestic market deregulated first then export after that. Actually probably closer to five years.

Sorry my response means nothing to you guys Just chewingbthe fat on a hot night.
Sounds very much like the Farm Bureau system of the U.S. Local county boards, then state boards, and then the National Farm Bureau. All three levels employ lawyers and lobbyists, not all counties have to have a Farm Bureau, so numerous counties may have one board. Not sure exactly how the are funded, I do know that if you are a Farm Bureau member you pay a membership fee, but I don't know how much it is, or what other funding they have. Both of my uncles have been on their local Farm Bureau's over the years with one even serving at the state level and serving on different committee's that have worked nationally. There still is individual producer groups but the Farm Bureau is by far the most effective voice for U.S ag.

I have posted before that this is the system we need here in Canada so that we have a single voice representing all aspects of primary agriculture in Ottawa.

The Farm Bureau is only one voice in a very noisy US lobby soup. Grower groups, commodity orgs and the NFU (yes NFU but not the Bolshevik style one like we have) all compete for politicians taste buds.

Another issue issmart guys good farmers that should be on boards etc aint cause there to busy farming. But these guys still vocal at branch level.

Australia has low tolerance to bone heads on farm group boards.

Like i said thrashed out over years.

You guys mention inthink nfu and theybhave climate change agenda read our groups mission statement doesnt get a single mention other than a broad brush stoke “environmentally responsible” which is a no.thing statement but keeps greenies happy who have little impact here onnfarming.

Guess australia is one ofvthe last conservative countries left and farm politics refelects that.

Could go on but its canada forum not backwoods australia
Please go on so we can learn more about a much more successful organization than our hodgepodge of boards and commissions that accomplish very little. Meanwhile the government does whatever they want since there isn’t a strong unified voice lobbying one way or another.

Don't farmers themselves vote leaders onto these boards and commissions? Can't they vote them off if they aren't happy?
