          I think I have solved the mystery. I checked which regular posters suddenly disappeared as soon as the Gareth post appeared on Dec 4th. Turns out Chucks real name must be Gareth. He coincidentally quit posting the same day this was posted, and didn't come back until 2 days after the thread had quieted down.

          I'll try resurrecting the thread and see if it has the same effect. If so, the solution is simple, we just need to keep posting threads about sheep.
