    Privatize the profits....socialize the losses.

CBC's investigation of the The Big Spend got me thinking....how does Air Canada go from being the best positioned in the airline industry to receiving 400 plus million from government...no longer a capitalist company , it might as well be owned by the government again...socialists.

Then look at all the other so called "well heeled" companies that spin a story about how well they are doing to shareholders while sending out dividend cheques and quickly getting on the government payroll...

Linamar ...auto parts mfg ...100 million BUT not to long ago spent a billion acquiring Macdon...hmmmm????
is that a capitalist company or socialist government owned project now???

The list goes on...big and small...large farmers with government help for temporary foreign workers while doing MUD deals on equipment....the saving should have allowed them to hire their own workers...

Apple growers forced to let fruit fall off trees in BC because all the homeless people in Vancouver cant learn how to pick apples....paying people to inject themselves with drugs and paying the fruit growers to let their production rot....ending in higher prices at the store.....

Can no one think these simple things out ???//////

Bucket, do you really think people who often have serious mental health and addiction problems and have been living on the street are going to suddenly turn into productive fruit pickers?

Short answer no....Long answer which would be a discussion for a better Canada is yes.

Why not train them to become productive addicts at the very least?

Even saving a few of the addicts would be a worth while win ?????

Basically chuck chuck ...for discussion only because I think you have more faith in humans than I do...is you are throwing your hands up as it being a wasteful effort in changing people from addicts to productive people in society ..

Not to put words in your mouth ...just the start of a discussion...

You need to start with treatment for their addictions and mental health issues. Picking fruit wont solve those problems.

The reality is picking fruit is a seasonal job that most Canadians wont do because it doesn't pay well enough and the working conditions on many fruit and vegetable farms are not very good. Its an industry that has relied on TFW from poorer countries.

An understanding of the term fascism (if possible to sift it down) could be a shortcut to the discussion...

If you think people should be productive, why do you spend so much time on Agriville? LOL

Touchè...developing a sense of humour ......good chuckle sir.

I spend time here because I won't go to the coffee shop....I enjoy my home and the coffee is better at home...so is the company...

And I try to talk about relevant farming issues with good comments rather than blank stares received if I talk about this stuff in public...

Quick thought Bucket, I remember reading for the 2020-2021 budget year 57% of Canada’s GDP will come from all levels of government spending in Canada. Think about that only 43% from the private sector!

The actual private sector in canuckistan is maybe 15 to 20% of the economy. You need to also subtract enterprises like law firms and accounting practices and consultancies that only exist due to regulations. Then there are construction firms that only work government projects. The private sector in canuckistan is tiny.

And why are farms that took the $40,000 soon to be $60,000 CEBA loan any different?

By the way i didn’t as i do not believe most farms will ever qualify as covid had minimal impact on most farms.

Many of you will say it was easy and “i got my money” so i am good

Little do you realize you only went through a simple prescreening process. The follow up will come soon and the penalties and interest will also.

Many say the gov’t with raise taxes, i think they will do whatever needed to claw back a lot of the payments made on all of these programs. Big deficit cut in half!

Good points. ..if the Trudeau government spent 100 billion on CEBA....75 billion is coming back and if the economy recovers maybe closer to 90 billion with existing taxes....
