Any one else on here have kids doing on line University? Our youngest is in his second year of ag at the U of S. As far as I can see this online program is a joke. They just cant do the education justice online. Trying to do labs and the lack of interaction with teachers and other students make this thing kind of waste IMO. The kid is not enjoying it. Too many distractions like the farm, girl friend and the life in general. He is gonna shut it down at Christmas and go back if things crank up in person in the fall. Its a shame but I cant argue with him. I'm not blaming anyone because I get the covid problem. Its just a shame.

I have one doing online University. I think she finds it difficult. For someone that isn't into math to take statistics online she finds it tough. It is just one class, but it is a prerequisite.
I know I would never have gotten my degree if I had to do it online. On top of it all tuition went up, not down with online courses. Profs are still available online or phone but classrooms aren't being used and likely don't need as many materials for labs.
Seems wrong to me.

Our granddaughter is in sciences and math hoping for medical field, taking 5 classes with 2 labs from local campus. She took the laptop and a friend and with a little help rented a new suite in Edmonton. Change of scenery. They both found awesome jobs and she hates on- line university but is using the opportunity to spread her wings. The tuition should be a quarter of what it is. University students or parents or grandparents are getting fleeced. Best part she’ll remember her Covid year forever. You only live once, lets make the best of it, that was our advice.

Paying full bore for 1/4 the value .
It’s makes it tough for all university kids and parents .... but not a word about tuition being said .
My kids got $18 back each , absolutely terrible

At least we have kids who are willing to try- a lot of kids are not bothering/ our nephew sitting in mama’s basement doing SFA. I say, giver schnoose without a caboose😹 Have as much fun too while you are young. Everything will work out - hopefully - i think so - maybe.

I told my son go if he wanted to but here was my advise.
First year is the one where you meet friends for life.
Your away from home that’s a learning curve.
You have to balance life and studies.
Now think about sitting at a computer doing basic first year.
He decided a job was better and I said he had till 30 to get a degree or diploma.

Daughter is finding it tough as well. Getting to this point and moving out and finding yourself is a bit of a right of passage to all of us and it has been takin away for the time being. Always thot it was better to head out after high school and find your way in life but this might have been a good time to stay on the sidelines as the money is still heading out but the value is poor for what we are paying.
