It's not about how much a tank of gas costs the average taxpayer it's about being able to compete in world markets as a country.
We don't have the population base to be able to ignore exports.

I know even before I start I will get blasted and called a LIBERAL but here goes anyway, I have asked before how much crop do you produce and how much do you buy. Is targeting yields realy profitable in the long run,you cant control weather. Not all that many yrs ago dryers were very uncommon,now everyone needs one because they cant wait on the weather because of (to many acres)mabey.
Could farming go back to mixed ,with grass in rotation, I supose not at least not when everyone wants to farm 5 to 10 thousand acres. I have seen big operations fail and smaller operations leave to an easier life in town with a job.
I would like to see a profit and loss sheet on some of these larger operations ,high imput as compared to low cost imput. I havent used fert in 40 yrs and grow probably on average 70 bu bly on a 3 to 4 yr grass rotation. If you are like me with no debts you can pretty well do as you please but with land and equipt payments I dont see why some even try. Someone elses money I guess.

Most farms were cattle and grain here with good rotation of grass,pasture and crops. But BSE changed that and the young pups are not going back. You can always pick out home 1/4s here after building site is gone because nutrient levels are higher from years of cow poo.

Phone a friend in Europe and then after you get off the phone make sure the gun cabinet is locked and the wife has the key. Rules that are coming will change farming forever in Canada. THe great reset is some farms will say **** it this shit is insane and quit. Others that are sucking the tit of following skippy will rejoice as they go bankrupt. Others will struggle on and hope for the best as the rest of the world hands us our lunch. Do you honestly think farmers in Ukraine or Russia or SA will follow the rules skippy wants us to follow. The funny part is I feel no farm group has focused anything on what is coming and letting farmers know what is coming. It's all about the carbon tax on grain drying and the stupid Ag stab useless program and irrigate 40 farms in the SW.

Unfortunately, in the modern world, everyone should only rely on themselves. Waiting for the state to be favorable to you and to decide something in your favor is a useless undertaking. Although it is offensive and unpleasant when you invest in your farm, but in the end nobody is interested in it. I've bought myself a Husqvarna MZ61, somehow I came across this model in the review https://homemakerguide.com/best-small-tractor-for-small-acreage/, but I think, with the current changes, what is the point of these investments ? No, of course for myself I will continue to engage in agriculture, but I am not sure that I will get much benefit in the current realities.

The current total of direct payments to farmers in the states alone is coming up on the equivalent of 100 billion canadian dollars....

Think about that....100 billion for farmers in the states in direct payments...MFP 1, 2 & 3 etc...


Our grains are priced off a distorted market on the american exchanges....

And you have professors at the Universities say food prices are going up due to the increase in wheat prices when the wheat price hasn't changed in 50 phucking years....

But think about this...there are more people protesting in Canada for the farmers in India .....than there is for western Canadian farmers....and we have an annual 50 million in checkoff funds to at least start a public service campaign for Canadian farmer issues...not happening...

No, what are you, you can't sit idly by and wait for some kind of benefit from the state or local authorities. Everyone needs to rely on themselves, possibly unite in some communities and defend their rights and opportunities. It seems to me that in modern society everyone should have the right to their own activities, even if it is growing vegetables for themselves.
