The problem with that theory is that they will need to apply that to all aspects of their travel and lives in general, even after the pandemic is over.
No flights to climate conferences.
The (former) climate minister will need to drive her snow shoes everywhere she goes.
This list could go on forever, but I think you get the point. It would set a dangerous precedent if they were to practice what they preach right now. This would seriously crimp the lifestyle of politicians in the future, and we can't have that.

Actually, I would argue that it is working ( or something is working). Look at the complete dearth of flu cases or deaths this year. Which is a virus. If we are not transmitting the flu to each other, then it can only be explained by the distancing, staying home when sick, possibly masks, etc.
If it is reasonable to transfer that credit to Covid, is harder to prove.

In Saskatchewan the hospitals won’t allow you to visit your grandmother on her death bed. (Children can but not grandchildren)

But you can fly to Greece to visit a sick grandparent.....assuming Nicki Ashton is telling the truth. 🤡
