    Hope it rains in May.

Ag canada has announced “ 2021-2022 production of oil seeds is set to increase by 6% to 19.9 MT, third highest on record”

NO Mention of the drought in western Canada, 😳

Let the predictions begin, Crop is still 3 months away from going into the ground.

More concerning, and significant to the markets and demand are the increasing outbreaks, killing off the barns of hogs and feathers.

Makes a guy wonder what is Canada’s plan if a BSE, dairy, or flax, or ... ?. These are issues that could impact the Canadian livestock markets, economy, etc

To comment on some of your points...

      1. I predict a 15mmt canola crop if conditions don't change
      2. Western canada doesn't matter

      3. And Canada has zero plans with respect to BSE, day or flax etc....and the pandemic proves it. If you purposely eliminate your pandemic monitoring department for people. Pretty sure they don't care about pigs, cattle feathers or crops, especially in Western Canada..

So after a few days of shaking the tree, canola has now made new highs today. Is it all blue skys from here on out?

Ag Canada predicting the size of crop in Jan is like the weather man predicting the amount of rain we will get June 30th.

End of month spreads and now on to next level as bins are getting empty. They get some on each retractment.

                  .
I was looking at March. New crop has been much more subdued.

So would the spreads and the basis indicate that this spike is more likely panic short covering, and not sustainable?

The daily canola moves are tracking the spreads in soyoil quote closely. The front month move being ~3 times the farthest out contract today.

Anyone have info on net long/short for the major markets?

On the issue of shorts, it's quite something to watch in the equities markets as the WSB crowd is taking billionaire hedge fund owners to the friggin cleaners on their short positions in the most heavily shorted stocks.

Some of these things are so shorted, that there aren't even enough shares publicly traded to cover their positions! You'd think that the "smart money", would have gotten the memo that markets have no connection to reality anymore...

The equities market was partially broken back in 2008 with the great recession and mortgage meltdown.

Corona has finished the job. There is no way to short anything with endless stimulus coming in which is used to buy back stocks.

Thats how buffet got to $400B or whatever, using nearly interest free money and cash flow to buy his own stock. Thats how some of these things with no profits like Amazon and Tesla have valuations 100x PE.

                                Giant ponzi.
