Good article to read financialpost.com/opinion/terrance-corcoran-a-global-mad-green-news-roundup. Certainly interesting news such as Germany’s record high electricity prices of 38 cents a kwh and how many billions wind and solar are costing Ontario.

Seems like progress to me. Proposed to ration electricity to avoid catastrophic blackouts.
To deal with the power grid instability problems, Germany’s Economics Minister Peter Altmaier presented a draft law that would allow electric utilities “to temporarily cut off the charging power for e-cars when there is once again too little electricity availableâ€, an idea known as “peak smoothingâ€.
“Shutdowns due to power shortages have been practiced for some time. Aluminum smelters, for example, have to put up with having their power cut off for limited periods of time,†reports Tichys Einblick. “These, like refrigerated storage facilities, consume great amounts. It’s a dangerous game because after three hours the molten metal has solidified and the factory is ruined.â€

More burden on the power grid
Currently there are only 33,000 electric car charging points in Germany, a country with over 50 million cars, and the government plans a vast expansion of e-cars in the future, yet isn’t sure what that infrastructure should look like. It’s a policy of going full speed in total blackness, and hoping there won’t be a brick wall in the way

There are going to be lots of issues and challenges in transitioning to low carbon energy sources.
But I doubt Corcoran and company are interested in looking at any positive and succesfull examples.
Meanwhile car companies are going full steam ahead in electrifying their line ups.
In Alberta the AESO and several private and public companies are the ones adding significant wind and solar capacity in Alberta energy market. Instead of worrying about Germany, why not ask the AESO and the green energy investors to explain what they are doing and why?
Alberta is set be one of largest producers of renewable electricity other than hydro, in Canada.
Ironically, Trans Canada was going to use renewable electricity for the Keystone XL.
