Manitoba Hydro has power for sale, doesn't get much more renewable than that!

Selling to Minn, Wisconsin, Sk and Ontario.

But solar is an energy source that can charge batteries and make hydrogen.

couldn't agree more with that , not to mention the added benefit of pulling a world record walleye outta the water ! tobin lake has been a godsend for the NE
but unfortunately the powers that be want nothing to be built unless its a bird mincer or a chinese solar panel
I've said before these dams should be one after the other , and whats wrong with small dams

Matinobas 100% renewable energy comes from dams. Can’t get any better than that for renewable energy. Fwiw public money is better spent on reliable schemes like dams. Leave solar to private hands. Incentives are alright but leave it at that. If it makes any sense it will be adopted.

Unfortunately Manitoba Hydro is also going broke. It's the price of satisfying the green movement, which, by the way, hates hydro for a variety of reasons.

They've recently issued 100 year interest only bonds in an attempt to postpone the day of reckoning.

Essential utilities owned by the government will never be let fail economically.

All sources of energy have costs. Which is the best investment and the cleanest with the lowest emissions or lowest environmental impact? That is what is driving investment.

                      Really simple?
All you have to do is figure out how to get that reformer that nobody ever shuts down because it takes a week to get tuned in again to run on 4 hr cycles.

You could run it on gas from one well for the 20hrs and use about 4000 acres of solar panels to run the other 4 hrs but that won't go if you don't get your subsidy because you used the gas.

Not going to happen without the govenment support.

The killer with dams is the ROI.....AND the fact that MB has extra power to sell that nobody wants to pay much for. MB hydro is virtually bankrupt because u guessed it. Government mismanagement. Paying off the Indian bands and environmentalists costs money. I agree with the whole concept but I think by the time they are paid for u have to start over again fixing.

Dozens of people hired to look after really dumb programs , buy your old fridge or water heater, or pay to insulate your house. I tried taking those coupons to a hardware store to get that discount on new energy saving lightbulbs. They gave me a funny look and said what the heck you want us to do with those! Manitoba Hydro just got too top heavy.

                            Austrian and Junkie

And the 1.5 billion Kenney invested, or the 100,000 orphan wells left behind. Not to mention the countless oil and gas companies who walked away after going bankrupt.

Yes Manitoba Hydro has a huge debt, but those dams are going to be around for a long time, with a large one coming on board in a couple of years. I would bet with the movement going on the USA with Biden, Manitoba Hydro has a better chance of recouping their loses than oil does at the present time.

All the plants around here are humming. Thank goodness for that, Nat gas for heat, and good diesel in the tractor to get the cow chow out when it’s -36 out.

At least the sun is out with just a light breeze 🍀

Of all the “renewable power” out there nothing is more reliable than hydro which even comes with its own “battery” built into it. The Hoover dam is 86 years old and still functional. Not even these coal plants can match that.
