AB5, Your scenario really illustrates , without a doubt ,what critical thinkers are dealing with everywhere
The only way it hits home is when it happens to them personally , sometimes even that doesn’t work

EV batteries are made from lithium and have heating systems to keep the battery warm. Battery technology is changing and improving rapidly.

Japan is betting more on hydrogen as the portable "energy carrier" of the future. Toyota has said all its cars and production will be zero emissions by 2050. They already have at least one mass produced hydrogen model on the road. The Mirai

Alberta is already making a plan for further hydrogen development.

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. Honda and Hyundai also have a hydrogen fuel cell model.

BC and Quebec have a few hydrogen refueling stations. California has many more.

Manitoba Hydro has power for sale, doesn't get much more renewable than that!

Selling to Minn, Wisconsin, Sk and Ontario.

But solar is an energy source that can charge batteries and make hydrogen.

couldn't agree more with that , not to mention the added benefit of pulling a world record walleye outta the water ! tobin lake has been a godsend for the NE
but unfortunately the powers that be want nothing to be built unless its a bird mincer or a chinese solar panel
I've said before these dams should be one after the other , and whats wrong with small dams

Matinobas 100% renewable energy comes from dams. Can’t get any better than that for renewable energy. Fwiw public money is better spent on reliable schemes like dams. Leave solar to private hands. Incentives are alright but leave it at that. If it makes any sense it will be adopted.

Unfortunately Manitoba Hydro is also going broke. It's the price of satisfying the green movement, which, by the way, hates hydro for a variety of reasons.

They've recently issued 100 year interest only bonds in an attempt to postpone the day of reckoning.

Essential utilities owned by the government will never be let fail economically.

All sources of energy have costs. Which is the best investment and the cleanest with the lowest emissions or lowest environmental impact? That is what is driving investment.
