Granted a 10hp single phase is rather large, but my in rush (LRA) is ~300amps. I'd need a 75kva single phase genset to start it.
I've ran it off 1 14.4KVA generator, but have to hot-swap the electrical connection as fast as i can, with someone else holding the switch on after you get it started off the line.

But the instantaneous inrush current at startup is 3x that. Doesnt trip the breaker because it's only for an extremely short period of time and quickly drops to ~35amps when running. Generators have no ability to soak up that inrush current.
Even if you direct short a traditional circuit (aside from GFCI) they take a few moments to build the necessary heat to trip.

Well , another night at -37 without power
It’s about to get real folks
Only it won’t be rolling blackouts without the inconvenience of no air conditioning like California or Australia
It will be people freezing to death in their carbon taxed homes
Oh , and toss in a few million electric vehicles getting charged on this overworked undersized outdated grid , yea should be no problem there ? Right comrades ?
The only bright spot is it will be “wokeâ€, “govt will look after me types†, “over fed†pricks that have been bitching about oil, gas, coal that will have made no preparations for the inevitable
Survival of the fittest in a twisted sort of way
Heat isn’t an option here you imbeciles that support that insane tax
Hopefully the supporters will learn
