SF, just try to explain how carbon emissions don't cause climate change, but you still want to be paid well for capturing carbon? What do you think the reason is for paying carbon credits to farmers?

That is exactly why whatever program ever comes into existence, needs to be privately run, so we get some of the grift without the regulation.

Maybe Input capital can become our carbon aggregator.

But seriously, all we need is some sort of privately structured company to get these credits amalgamated and onto an exchange. I am surprised it hasnt happened yet.

By all accounts even carbon saturated soil recycles 500 lbs back in every yr. So at $50 a ton Federal pricing, thats $12 an acre. Good place to start. And if farmers want to goose that they could be restoring wetlands or shelter belts or putting in a fall cover crop on some land.

Selling the illusion is a big thing these days and after this past yr, it should be a slam dunk to get people on board to pay for it.

There is no link between the price of pollution aka the carbon tax that the government arbitrarily sets and the price of sequestering.

        Government set carbon tax.
        Market price for sequestering.

in other words a royal phucking.

The trouble with selling your illusion, is someone else can just as easily sell their illusion to you. Once you subscribe to the junk science that Chuck peddles, how do you counter said junk science when they try to turn it around and make you pay with their newest iteration of junk science?

Attitudes should be less "what's in it for me?" and more "what's coming at me?".
Imagine the discussions in Ottawa every time a new farm census is trying to be understood. Think hard on census info.
If Ottawa is as insulated as we believe it to be. And with no lasting political power ever, read Senate. All we can do is lobby.
If our dollars worked as hard as say the tiny gun lobby, we'd be laughing.
We have a 100 yr vaccum in self identity to evolve through. Until our policy strategies are modernized and unified enjoy life as a mushroom.

The time to push back on this is pretty much gone. Scientists have sold out, Media have sold out and now politicians on both sides of the isle have too. Its just us and the oil patch on this side and we are going to be the next pariah.

IMHO the govt wants the no till program without the continuous cropping part of it. Which will mean putting 1/3 of your acres into a forage or cover crop and living off less N and less diesel and chem.

Thats really where this is going. Its all stick on this side.

So NASA and NOAA rely on junk science? I guess that's how NASA landed the "junk" rover on the "junk" planet Mars! LOL

I would say that you are the one who mostly relies on junk science. Most of your "opinions" come from denier sites and rarely do you actually publish any peer reviewed science or references!

You can do better than that? You're slipping.

Chuck has never even seen Cape Canaveral or knows nothing about nasa and the rover on Mars. Money they get they design something to travel to Mars. Need a study to make it show the planet is increasing in temp here is you study you paid for.

                        Chuck it’s all about money.

Carbon dioxide increase for canada would be great we would move forward and win. Last time the earth had a huge amount of carbon in it sask was under water and we were the tropics.

Guys like chuck want us all to be section farmers and follow his plan

SF You still haven't explained why you are so mad about not being paid for storing carbon, but then you don't think excess carbon in the atmosphere is a problem. Why should anybody pay you if it isn't a problem?

I am just a medium large capitalist land owning farmer like you. Seems like there are lots of smaller and medium sized farmers on here. I know they can't all be like you SF with your holiday home in Florida and ego to match.

Give us another drink recipe. Its almost Thursday. Lets have some fun!

If they want to have an impact on the environment, they should look into habitat maintenance payments. It would actually do something.

                              Good suggestion.
How much will farmers in Brazil be paying to knock down trees in the rainforest?
Just curious. After all, this is a global problem, right?

Chuck, why don't you still refer to it as Global Warming? Like you used to.
