Why avoid answering the question? If you want to be paid for capturing carbon there must be a reason?
Yup there is a reason ...because I am paying for my and others emissions...and more than likely the farm sequesters more than I emit.

And the fact that my farm is being used to offset other industries without compensation.

So that must mean you are in favour of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

There would be no reason to pay farmers for carbon credits otherwise.

I think you realize that farmers have already reduced their emissions with the current farming practices...

The only thing is farmers are not being paid to sequester which is an ongoing exercise..

Every other industry that has done nothing to reduce their emissions will be given a government grant to do so and then be given credits after..

Farmers have done most of the reductions on their own dime.

This includes the investments in machinery and genetics and crop rotations.

Why are they going to pay carbon credits to farmers in the U.S.A.? There is no carbon tax in the U.S.A.!!

The only reason to ***** myself to this program would be because everyone else is. Don't have to agree to cash the check.

                  From the federal budget...

Another initiative targeting heavy emitters is a tax credit for companies that invest in technology that captures carbon dioxide emitted by fuel combustion or other industrial processes and stores it in the ground instead of releasing it into the atmosphere. The budget said the government will undertake a 90-day consultation process to determine the rate of the incentive for capital investments in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).

No tax credit for investing in machinery for minimum till farming and storing carbon in the ground...

No CO2 - no food is the long-term goal. Let them eat recycled windmills, solar panels and Tesla batteries.
