But why did they use lockdowns during the spanish flu in 1918? Surely you are not going to claim that the 1918 lockdowns were a Chinese conspiracy? Maybe a Russian one?

Or maybe as Australia has proven, effective lockdowns stop the virus from spreading and then you can open up your economy faster?

That would be the more sensible explanation. But people who are prone to believing elaborate conspiracies sometimes miss the the obvious.
