Our govts are responsible for this failure of economics and responsibility. Why should the average person be responsible when our elected officials cant be. Most of them are just failed grifters as well.

SF I see you have upgraded from your 2 word answers.

Clearly you would prefer that others people lives, no matter how unfortunate they may be, would be subject to your whims of charity.

Rather than depend on the whims of a cranky well off right wing curmudgeon, the sick, elderly, single parents and unemployed through no fault of their own, need more than your biased charity.

Ask Conservative Hugh Segal to explain the reason why charity is not enough.

Ok skippy explain how giving $1800 to grade twelve grads that don't want to work? Or how people living at home with old parents who don't want to work will do with $1800 a month.

We have programs in place, this is just about liberal votes.

New Canadians come over everyone over 18 in-home gets $1800.00 from the taxpayer as an example. Larger families so say 6 in a household 4 over 18.

That is $7200.00 a month. Not a bad start but who would want to move ahead.

Chuck also why do you hate those who want a better life and work hard to achieve this.

Please explain why you hate the hard-working Canadians.

Why do you want all of us to be at your level?

        Explain these.

          Guaranteed Basic Income = Welfare

One in the same, just a new name to make it more palatable and more virtuous.

GBI will be easier to to get on, less oversite,,,,, actually no oversite.

Look at every post chuck makes and you can understand the mentality of your average bottom-end Liberal. They cant see that their masters live so high on the Taxpayer's hog but are still willing to spew the Master's propaganda at any time.

A guaranteed basis income will create a thriving black market and a bunch of lazy people content to stay at home and watch for their cheque in the mail or better yet, direct deposit.

No wonder they want 10 year olds to vote!

And you think the present bureaucratic system is good and fair? We need a system that rewards those that work hard and struggle. Automation is the real challenge.

Very true. Please propose your workable solution.

There are a lot who work and struggle. I doubt anyone here would argue that people should not get a decent wage for a days work. And I would like to hear the rest of the story. Does guaranteed basic income mean most welfare programs that support the able-bodied will disappear? The unions would scream blue murder to see that go down.

It is actually sad that people could be satisfied with only receiving $1800 per month, you can't buy a decent vehicle, can't go anywhere and experience new things, just collect a cheque, pay your cable bill and stare at a tv....what a life.

Automation isnt a challenge to a country with trillions in natural resources that cant be replicated anywhere else.

Hey but lets just ignore all that and just run up the credit card for people to play video games and surf twitter.

If UBI is implemented it needs to be a bargain. if you are getting $1800 free money to do nothing, then you give back to the community in some way. Lots of graffiti and garbage to deal with in our cities. Or you give up your right to vote because you are a life long dependent and deserve no say in the direction of this country.
