The description of basic income is a joke. We have welfare for those who cant work. We also have really wealthy people and farmers who give more than most.

Our local guy when he died gave a million to telemiricle.

A friend of mine folks are matching donations for the cost of a X-ray machine.

We donate on a regular basis to different causes.

    Chuck, what have you done?

What is the proposed yearly income amount? Anyone know? I presume everyone over 18 gets a salary? I presume those who are productive would see theirs clawed back?

What a way to kill work ethic and incentive. This will cause a whole bunch of chucks in their parents basement forever. Just what leftists are aiming for. Dependent voters.

Let em have it, I don't need to be a part of it. I can be my own central bank, convert funny money into real money.

The proposal is for $1800 a month. Lets see someone live on that in canada.

If Canada implements this it will be destroyed. The burden on our treasury and tax base would be huge. Many would stop trying to be as productive to pay for people playing video games. Some industries are already supported by EI. I can imagine most of them would just quit entirely.

The sovereign credit markets are already betting on a ratings downgrade for Canada. We are way in over our head on debt just like back in the 90s when we almost defaulted.

Charity has its place but If charity works why are there still so many poor people?

Too bad you didn't experience your taxpayer paid stay in hospital based on whether or not you received charity. That would be a good experience for you.

Because leftists don’t give enough. If leftists were generous, poverty would take a big hit.

So chuck my stay in hospital is a charity?

Wow, you really do have a problem, don't you.

If I lived in the USA I would have paid for my hospital with the insurance I would buy.

in Canada, I pay for my hospital with my Taxes.

You're smart you know that but calling a hospital charity is way over the line.

                Your one sick individual.

Not enough really to live, but too much. If I was 18 again, and had had access to that kind of funding, I would have not tried to do better as a farmer, to expand, to tweak etc. I would have done some simple math, and not given it my all. Bought a boat and fished more.

I imagine kids nowadays are generally the same, probably lazier.

Communism is what it is. A grand vote purchase by the alt left. Republic of Western Canada?

Guaranteed income won't work it will create more people thinking like chuck a guaranteed voter base of useless people. How well did paying first nations work. The ones that want to get ahead have to leave and go on their own. The ones that stay are doomed. Liberals scamming every day to stay elected and live the high life on taxpayers dime.

$1800 a month from age 18-38 invested the S&P 500 is a million bucks. Just live at home an extra 20 yrs and you are a millionaire.

Our govts are responsible for this failure of economics and responsibility. Why should the average person be responsible when our elected officials cant be. Most of them are just failed grifters as well.

SF I see you have upgraded from your 2 word answers.

Clearly you would prefer that others people lives, no matter how unfortunate they may be, would be subject to your whims of charity.

Rather than depend on the whims of a cranky well off right wing curmudgeon, the sick, elderly, single parents and unemployed through no fault of their own, need more than your biased charity.

Ask Conservative Hugh Segal to explain the reason why charity is not enough.

Ok skippy explain how giving $1800 to grade twelve grads that don't want to work? Or how people living at home with old parents who don't want to work will do with $1800 a month.

We have programs in place, this is just about liberal votes.

New Canadians come over everyone over 18 in-home gets $1800.00 from the taxpayer as an example. Larger families so say 6 in a household 4 over 18.

That is $7200.00 a month. Not a bad start but who would want to move ahead.

Chuck also why do you hate those who want a better life and work hard to achieve this.

Please explain why you hate the hard-working Canadians.

Why do you want all of us to be at your level?

                          Explain these.

                            Guaranteed Basic Income = Welfare

One in the same, just a new name to make it more palatable and more virtuous.

GBI will be easier to to get on, less oversite,,,,, actually no oversite.

Look at every post chuck makes and you can understand the mentality of your average bottom-end Liberal. They cant see that their masters live so high on the Taxpayer's hog but are still willing to spew the Master's propaganda at any time.

A guaranteed basis income will create a thriving black market and a bunch of lazy people content to stay at home and watch for their cheque in the mail or better yet, direct deposit.
