There are a lot who work and struggle. I doubt anyone here would argue that people should not get a decent wage for a days work. And I would like to hear the rest of the story. Does guaranteed basic income mean most welfare programs that support the able-bodied will disappear? The unions would scream blue murder to see that go down.

Automation isnt a challenge to a country with trillions in natural resources that cant be replicated anywhere else.
Hey but lets just ignore all that and just run up the credit card for people to play video games and surf twitter.
If UBI is implemented it needs to be a bargain. if you are getting $1800 free money to do nothing, then you give back to the community in some way. Lots of graffiti and garbage to deal with in our cities. Or you give up your right to vote because you are a life long dependent and deserve no say in the direction of this country.

And anyone who is satisfied to not work and lead a productive life, and better their( and our collective) well being is better off on a guaranteed income harmlessly sitting in their parents basement, campaigning for the NDP. We really don't want them in the workforce. They are a cancer on the remainder of the workforce. And I'm sure we have all worked with some prime examples.
The rest of us will pay the UBI back with our taxes, and continue to be productive members of society, unencumbered by trying to find a way to fit the toxic Chuck's of the world into the workforce.

basically its in mom and dads basement or stuck in a shtbox slum apt somewhere.
But seeing how generous we are to the non productive, if snowbirds can collect OAS in Mesa, then I suppose lifelong deadbeats can collect UBI in Costa.

Some of you guys are showing your white privileged lives if you think 1800 isn’t enough to live on, that’s better than minimum wage when all you need is stay home, family of 4 will be making 86,400 a year, many years of ranching and supporting a family of 6 I sure as heck didn’t even gross 86 thousand.

Those that want to sit at home and collect $1800.00 a month only means there will be more opportunity for my children who want to work and succeed.
Yes I know your all going to say my children will be heavily taxed to pay for the ones who want to stay home and collect, but those with great work ethic, ambitious, and educated will be unstoppable. Every family member and close friends of mine who have young adults are all doing great even in these times of Covid. Have business and great jobs.
This is nothing new, those on welfare have being doing it for years, and will simply roll over into this new form of welfare.
I'm in no way supporting hands outs, but this is nothing new some people just don't want to work no matter what, because more than likely they have parents who were the same and taught them nothing.
Do you guys not feel your children will still prosper, or are you worried they will be collecting $1800.00 a month.
I'm betting they'll prosper.

I think using 1800 bucks doesn’t fit most situations. There are usually two 18 plussers. 3600 changes the idea quite a bit.Last edited by Sheepwheat; Apr 12, 2021, 10:05.

If someone can sit at home and make the same as a minimum wage earner what is the incentive to start working and try to become better, we don’t all start at the top.
