New Holland t 9040 425 hp .2nd last day of seeding. Serpentine belt on front of Iveco motor.squeal and a/c quit. There is an idler in a casting .bearing gone, not available. NH sells as unit with pulley. Pressed it out but bearing

Found 2 single bearings, none available with same size inner race. Had to go bigger and shim up the shaft. , seems good ,but if you

Planned obsolescence.
High cost of inventory.
On newer, that cost leading to just in time manufacter and stocking.
And now the current factors amplifying the problems.
Proprietary crap in ag machines, now we cant access parts pages from CNH for some reason. Pulled the great app they had a year ago.
What to do? Increase legislation on inventory etc? That'll cost too.
Cant imagine building a pulley like that. Its not an antique.

Talked to my dealer this morning, they’d already had two whammies this week... the pallet forks they’ve ordered for the summer will be delayed at least 6 months because they can’t buy tines anywhere in the world, and their wood splitter orders will be 6 months late because the supplier, that builds dozens every week, can no longer get Honda engines

And to make sure I had an aneurism, I had to wrap my head around the engineering maddness involved , the fan is ran off the end of the crankshaft, that's great.but the casting above is where a fan would be in say a truck or combine installation.
The idler is inside the casting rather than outside where a fan would be mounted. I am sure the bearing is in other applications the fan bearing . The belt only runs over the top 3 inches , and they used the huge fan bearing for

Idlers on it , but the tensioner assembly idler would require the fan and fan clutch removal. To change it.
Good thing labor at a dealer is cheap huh.

I had a similar problem on my 6400 chore tractor with bearing gone in the tensioner.
I had an extra idler that I was able to make fit on the tensioner.
Tensioners on mine are a consumable only lasting about 2500 hrs. When the belt sheds it's because the tensioner is no longer running square.
Not my favorite job but have done it more than a few times.

If done right they are great. R30 insulation value typically. Concrete supposedly cures harder and stronger. No interior framing required on the interior to hang drywall. Can be done yourself. Downside: blowouts can happen, careful not to over vibrate. Attaching the blue skin on the exterior never seems to stick well to the Styrofoam even with the roll on primer.
