Wasn't it the guy before that borrowed them into
          Oblivion. GROWING GLOBAL
          Mayo spread the remains.
Local coop had Nh3, they had granular
Market. Pool then bought 30 nurse tanks new
Every thing trucks , bullets. 1/2 Sat , not used.
Put them both out of the business.
Plus all the other stupid investments.
I commented WTF are you doing spending like that?
Just to compete against another coop.
Go big or go home, was the answer.
I suggested farmers buy at least some storage trackside, in the elevator. Help fund new terminals ,No that was crazy too.

Corporate world obviously knows Mayonnaise well. He’s a stripper. He strips the companies of their assets and gets a big bill shoved in his pants for the dance. The Pool was a dumpster fire. Previous management were incompetent and had lofty global dreams. They wanted to swim with the big fish but they didn’t have the capitol or the ability. If they stuck with their core business from the start and didn’t try to farm in Russia, buy a donut chain, build a port in Poland, or build the concrete terminals so fast and knock down the wood elevators all at the same time, they might of had a chance. Another thing, seemed they never listened to their local boards enough, and made decisions against them. Often to the detriment of the pool. Local elevator here was built on a cp branch against the suggestion from the local to put on the CN main line. The thing has been a white elephant for years. How could a privately held outfit like Richardson steamroll ahead to what they are today in stark contrast to a larger player the SWP? Management competence.

I worked for SWP in the " project horizon" phase when they were knocking down the wood elevators before the concretes were built. The area managers couldn't figure out why they were losing market share. Gee , really ? Anyhow it was quite the rodeo when the slash and burn artist Mayo got hired. you are right , it was a dumpster fire. Patterson and SWT had their elevators built and the SW corner of Sask bled red ink for the Pool back in those days. It was entertaining to watch.

The board of directors for SWP at that time ignored the delegates and the local boards and didn't want to hear anything from anyone who didn't wear a suit. The terminals in Russia and Poland from what I had heard at that time was close to a 50 million loss, and there was a joint venture terminal in Manzanillo Mexico that also was a complete bust. Not a good recipe for success.

They shipped 9 9600 Deere’s to Russia to go farming, never to be seen again.
