Cargill Unveils Plans for New Canola Processing Facility in Regina

REGINA, SK, April 22, 2021 /CNW/ -- Cargill today announced plans to break ground on a new canola processing facility in Regina, Saskatchewan, to support the growing global demand for canola products. The company expects to begin construction on the $350 million project, which will have a similar design to Cargill's existing Camrose facility, early next year with plans to be operational by early 2024. The company will also update and modernize its canola facilities in Camrose and Clavet over the next 12 months to increase volume and broaden capabilities at both locations.

This is good but again they make money off the oil and meal also makes them money plus farmers pay the freight to the coast.

I like the idea so were not dependent on China just Cargill?

Well, if they can set it up on their own dime that would be something.

I'm sure they hope to make a profit. How much return on investment would you expect on 350M?

Lots your crushing seed for oil and meal. Profit is great if farmers grow the crop or add acreage.

All our profits are going to be ate up in carbon tax and increasing input , land , rent , and other costs .
Need a few bucks left over to maybe try to raise a family if they let us .

Tweety because last time I checked I don't have 350 million. The problem you know all farmer-owned organizations could start up a plant but due to high debt levels, they will fail as soon as some small issue arises. then would be bought for 10 cents on the dollar. Cargill is a billion-dollar 100-year-old grain company. They can get all financing and have the experts to build.

This is good for Canola farmers but all I am saying is we should be paid more like today's price and not like the last three years at 10 to 12.

Because they are too busy running their own farm business and possibly additional off farm jobs.

That’s as dumb as asking why farmers don’t own and run railways and international cargo ships and mine fertilizer and own tractor manufacturers.

Do you commies even think, why aren’t you running a crush plant, it is so easy right.

Buy the stock if you want a piece of it (Cargill, tractor manufacturers, fertilizer companies, railways, etc).

Biodiesel methinks. You've got the catalyst there in potassium. Bonus byproduct glycerin for those suppositories the circle jerk club so desperately needs

This must be good news for Canola prices.

What Tweety is saying can be done by farmers!

Ever hear of DLF Seed and Science?

2800 Danish grass growers, employing 2000 workers in over 20 counties, shipping grass seeds to over 200 countries.

Funny you should mention Cargill the largest privately owned Corp. in the USA in terms of revenue.

Nothing Commie in either of those two examples!

Fair enough, good catch, buy publicly traded Bunge instead and let them do the hard work.
