Every furnace and boiler in the province is running today

Rosetown -16 windchill -23. That ties it for the coldest night there going back to 1937. I can't find Environment Canada temperature records for Rosetown older than that

Noticed Saskatoon has tied the low record for this date set in 1968 with records going back to 1892.

We will now return you to the climate change channel and regular sky is falling programming....

There is a fair amount seeded in west central .
Be interesting to see how it will effect germinated crops .
Seed mortality could be a real big issue .

I couldn’t agree more. Yesterday around 4 in the afternoon I checked the temperature and it was -2. I walked in my shop to grab some tools, my furnace was running and I thought man we are lucky to have affordable heat and then I thought that is one thing Justin Trudeau wants to take away, affordable heat. And why because -2 on April 22 isn’t cold enough?! Fml!

Agree on all accounts. These idiots think they are smart enuf to change the weather. The thing that pisses them off is they can’t control the sun and it is what controls our weather. What they gonna say next it’s getting to cold we gotta let more light in our atmosphere. It never ends with these phucktards. The thing they got going for them is the fact that there are more and more stupid people in this world that don’t realize the weather is right out their front door and if they paid attention like their life depended on it they would know the weather always changes and they shouldn’t have to be taxed for it.
This agenda to distribute wealth shud be just called what it is not more lies and insults to peoples intelligence who actually pay attention to the weather like there livelihoods depend on it.
I can say over the past 20 years crops have been better as an average and I truly believe it’s due to slightly cooler temperatures. Better agronomics among other things has helped but if the C02 has undisputedly risen accordingly to the scientific experts how is that bad for us. Plants love it and indirectly it keeps our society from spiralling into anarchy.
What will be will be. We as humans just have to realize we can’t micromanage and try and fix or unfix things we can’t. There are greater problems we need to tackle like waste management.

Mixed a case of Tums into the silage ration so to control the belching in the feed pens. Maybe burn the hiway ditch later to get rig of all the Timmies and Mc d's cups . Used the cutting torch to keep my hands warm while working on the planter . - 10 this morning looks like mother earth is calling the shots and we don't.

Earth Day was started in 1970 in the USA.

Pollution was the big concern at that time.

But true to their form Agriviller's turn the thread into a platform to throw shit and dig up shit for the climate change debate.

F ucks guys take your Prozac, and just find something positive with something once and a while.

It's not the Earth's fault their are idiots on the Planet.

Forage I can agree to a certain extent but Fjlip’s post showing the predictions made on the first earth day in 1970 are quite telling on how wrong the environmental sky is falling crowd can be.

But I will try to say something positive, I am positive that the policies being proposed by Justin Trudeau will double Canada’s deficit and do nothing to improve the environment! How is that?!

Way to go narcissists. Absolutely getting the point of Earth Day. It’s all about talking about yourself.

If you’re so cynical about what others do for it, then why bother telling us what you do for it. Nobody cares, it’s just a way to toot your own horn. Doesn’t matter if it’s an urbanite shutting off lights for an hour or the farmer trope of “Every day is Earth Day”.

Sit down for a minute, shut up and breathe with the Earth. Even better, go find a grounding tree. (Obviously easier in some places than others, as the photo shows 😂)

Being bitter about Earth Day is about as effective and nauseating as people who get mad about “Happy Holidays” and rant about the commercialism of Valentine’s Day.

Blaithin, I think you need one of Bin Luking's Snickers. Maybe head to Costco for Econo size.

Just wondering how much we hate the earth? We plant, water, hoe, roto-till thousands of trees in an inhospitable climate. We cover the earth with green cooling crops.

Do you think the Jane Fonda’s sipping their double foamed caramel mochiato would trade me one afternnon of riding the roto-tiller on a 90 degree day with a 70 km wind? Many young farmers around here know what it is to love the earth.

Why? Because I don’t think farmers are as Earth friendly as many like to say and believe they are?

They’re farmer economic friendly, not Earth.

Old farmer wisdom is don’t plant until the trees start to go green. Then the Earth is ready. Go for a drive right now and see how many remember that logic. Not very in synch with nature and the seasons. On the hunt for an early seed, because that must always equate to a good and early harvest... right? Surley?

The Earth may be on the list of prerogatives for many farmers, but it’s not generally very high. I can make a hulking list of things that would be better for the Earth if implemented on farm but I already know the responses everyone here would have. That wouldn’t work/isn’t necessary in this area. That would cost too much. That would decrease my yield. You obviously don’t even know what you’re talking about. I’ve farmed here for thousands of days and absolutely know more than you ever will, get back in your book.

Farmers are professionals at farming. I absolutely in no way equate that to being Earth friendly or in synch with Nature. The potential is there too be, but it’s not usually a potential that’s well developed. They like to pat themselves on the back by saying they work with nature but pretty much everything done is a fight against it. But that’s ok, the hypocrisy is a secret for the most part.

And if it makes you feel better to think I’m a latte sipping urbanite who’s come to these conclusions via biased documentaries then feel free to do so.

You mean sort of like Al Gores 15,000 sqft mansion, or David Suzikis 5 homes or Bill Gates private jet fleet or Gretas million dollar endorsements?

I dont hear farmers preaching to anyone.

Someone decided to crash commodity prices 40 yrs ago, so dont blame farmers for what they do today trying to make a living.
