Might be fine and dandy with liberals running the country, but they didn't think far enough ahead to realize they might not always be in power, and it could be a far right Pinochet like leader, that hunts liberals, stringing them by their skin from lamp posts..... but that couldn't happen in Canada. They are pretty confidant they will always be in power, especially after they bring in mail-in voting, or internet voting, or cell phone voting, or more electronic voting machines.

They will tell Canadians, "we have to modernize voting for the 21 century." None of this marking an "X" on a paper ballot with a pencil,,, young people barely know what a pencil is !

Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault relied on claims from a lobbyist subsidized by his own department to counter criticism of a YouTube censorship bill. Guilbeault’s department approved a $375,000 grant to the lobby group Coalition for the Delivery of Cultural Expressions of Montréal prior to its endorsement of Bill C-10.

Guilbeault in the Commons cited an April 28 news release from the registered lobbyist that accused the bill’s critics of “fearmongering” and fake news. The group would not say if Guilbeault asked them to issue the statement. The Coalition’s five-year $375,000 grant was approved by the Department of Heritage in 2019.

Bill C-10 An Act To Amend The Broadcasting Act would impose federal regulations on YouTube including homemade content uploaded by everyday users. It is the first legislation of its kind to censor user-generated internet content.

Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault yesterday lost NDP support to speed a YouTube censorship bill through the minority Parliament. New Democrats on the Commons heritage committee said they must determine if the bill violates the Charter Of Rights And Freedoms.

“Liberals Double Back Down on Planned Media Controls

In response to an overwhelming public outcry, Trudeau’s Liberals performed a stunning, weekend non-reversal, swiftly doubling back down on their threat to impose controls on most public media.

“We just cannot risk our thin minority position in Parliament by letting the electorate know more of our plans”, mumbled a clearly-dejected looking Minister of Hairitage, Steven Guilbeault.

In his clarification of the censorious intentions he made clear the day before, Guilbeault admitted that the Liberal government was astonished to learn that many Canadian citizens actually remembered the existence of an ancient Charter document that enshrines Canadian liberties.

“We had no idea that the people of Canada would be so determined to uphold some basic principles of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, such as freedom of sharing personal opinions”, he added, momentarily lapsing into stunned silence.

In further comments, the Minister of Hairitage said that just because the news of plans to control media broke widely on Groundhog Day, the shadow it cast should not be taken as a sign of rough weather ahead for the ruling minority Trudeau Liberals.

The visibly unnerved Minister said that his shock was so great at the public’s vitriolic reaction to his plans to eliminate critical press that he would rather attempt to scale the CN Tower, one of the world’s highest man-made structures from which one could jump.

When reporters asked Gilbeault’s boss if he supported his underling’s proposed censorship, he replied, “Certainly, ah, um, certainly not. Ah, ah, we believe that Canadians deserve to hear only fair, fact-checked and ah, ah, balanced stories reaching their ears. And uh, we will protect them by deciding what that might include. Otherwise, without our help, this whole damn country could go to pot.””
