    Wild day

What a day with heat and wind!
Harrowing some barley stubble and the straw is turning to dust!
Reminds me of years gone by.

Trying to seed into pea stubble. Last night and this morning it was damp and clingy. For about 2 hours it was beautiful. Now its tinder dry with no weight so it wants to climb the shanks then refuses to bounce out. I'm going to wear the latch out on my cab door.

    As farma used to say..

"Wouldnt it be nice if we didnt have to worry about it anymore?"

Spring of 1981 was just like this. In 1980 a lot of early crops were disced down so everything was black around us that spring. (Black, powder-dry and ready to rumble). Then the hot winds of 1981 got the fields blowing and over six inches of gumbo silt was transplanted onto our newly laid sod, not to mention rvery water run and Light fixture. On a day pretty much like today about May 12 or 15 or 18 a grain truck caught fire, then an old manure pile spontaneous combusted. But not long after we heard the pitter-patter of the million dollar rain, so here’s hoping for a repeat performance 40 years later. 👍🙏🏼

Kind of a guessing game how deep to put canola in when the blast furnace is turned up high like today.
Figure it will need a little dirt on top of it but how much is enough🤷

Since May 7 July canola has gone down 179.90 then up 133.30. Now that's wild
