Today in the news a couple of headlines jumped out at me. First Justin Trudeau says that it is fine for Quebec to unilaterally alter the constitution to basically say that Quebec is a nation and that French is it’s language, my apologies if my interpretation is less than perfect. Then I read how the federal government is spending $200 million subsidizing the construction of a contract production facility for vaccines in Ontario when Providence Theraputics an Alberta based company developing it’s own vaccine, is planning to leave Canada to produce it’s vaccine due to lack of investment either provincially or federally in Canada. So please explain to me why any western Canadian with a brain would wish to remain part of Canada?! You have a province that wants the benefits of nationhood but it’s bills still payed by another nation and a Prime Minister from that same province gladly taking the spoils from western Canada and using it to buy votes in the east!!Does this make sense to anyone?!

Good, make Quebec french only. Who really cares? If Quebec can change the constitution with the flick of a pen, so can every province and adios bilingualism. No more turning every cartoon, every instruction sheet, every label to find the English side. ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

Feds pledge $23.3M for VIDO-InterVac amid COVID-19 pandemic
VIDO-InterVac will receive $12 million to help address the shortage of vaccine manufacturing capacity and $11.3 million for high containment laboratories.
Western separatists in Alberta should compares notes with the Quebec separatists.
If you want to leave Canada what stopping you from selling out and moving?
The price of oil and grain is high again and you guys keep telling us how bad it is?
The complaining from some never stops.Last edited by chuckChuck; May 19, 2021, 07:01.

Well, O’Toole has said he supports Quebec in this, no surprise now that we know he is really a Liberal anyway.
If Quebec wants French to be the only official language in Quebec then I think French should be dropped as an official language in the rest of the country, including on labels and packaging, airports.

Hamloc, you do realize that in 2006 the Government of Canada recognized Quebec to be: "a NATION within a united Canada" by a vote in parliament which passed by a large majority. (Who was the PM in 2006 BTW?)
And you do realize that since 1974 French has been the only official language in Quebec with the passage of bill 22. You also realize that there are only two provinces in Canada which have both English and French as official languages - New Brunswick and Manitoba. So given that the current bill proposal does not change anything, why are you upset.
As to your other complaint today about funding going to an eastern pharmaceutical company for manufacturing instead of Providence it is important to also realize that the eastern company is not a startup and was already manufacturing compared to Providence which has no track record of any vaccine product and has only completed phase one testing on 60 people. The earliest it can be in production is next year if testing is successful.
BTW did you support Trudeau's purchase of Tran mountain for $4.5 billion - a pipeline which benefits primarily Alberta?

As for Transmountain, no I wasn’t happy the federal government bought it because this was only necessary due to the legislative incompetence of successive federal governments, would much have preferred private ownership.

All correct dml.
Question is, do you agree with nations within a nation?
Laws for us but I make them.
Laws you follow but I don't.
Taxes we pay but I spend.
It started long before the 70s.
Canada has a history of letting conquered peoples win more than they lost.
The culture you defend will not prevail.
We have created our own version of Europe. The cultural mosaic model we so lauded in the 70s was always going to be our end. I said so then. I tire from being right.
The foil to my theory might be central planner's ability to create dependence.
The crux will be convincing the payers.

I think its great that the only province that didnt sign the constitution be instrumental in its demise.
If they can unilaterally make changes to their status then we should be able to make changes to equalization and bilingualism.
Canada likely wont be a country in your kids lifetimes. No country can stand this divided.
