Checked first wheat. Looks like had 3 separate hits by the damage to the stems. Purply too.
      Thinking it will come back.
Peas a little pale but still going.

Agrologist told us to wait 48 hrs after frost is done.
        Wht/bly should be ok..
We had sprayed bly a number of yrs ago before a frost and burnt it to the ground.
        Came back with no issues.
Canola reseed always seemed to be half a crop for us..
        Good luck to all..

Problem is here no agrologist ever seen what’s going on here .
Will be interesting by tomorrow night but I can see what’s going to happen already .
Will be overseeding all canola that was emerged with Horsch at 1.5 lbs at right angles immediately after rain with an earlier variety. If we get the rain 🙏
Frost damage is severe now . And it’s widespread

Didn't think the canola was up yet.

If the canola leaves pop when you squeeze em, she froze, but sometimes they come back from the growing point if the flea Beatles don't get em.

Before frozen canola can re grow a real risk is from the striped flea beetles feeding on stems.

The cotyledons fall off when the true leaves come.
They don't substantially contribute to plant viability.
The growing point is what matters. Has to look alive when you pull the seedling.
What is the minimums for plant count? 3 per sq ft?
Make sure you have good weed and insect control and spead some sulfate fines to make it pop if you have a strong urge to spend more money.

Also in the vein of spending more money, some Lignohumate would give a boost as well.

Hope the best for nearly the entire canola belt again next two mornings
A lot more canola will be up in areas that missed last weeks frost event .

Will still be assessing damage today from that first 3 day event in most of western and NW Sask .

Looks like the growing season will start closer to June than mid May.

CC still thinks we need to pay TAX, quit all C02 to make it colder? Take a vote WHO wants it COLDER?

Someone on here was laughing at me when I said old farmer logic was don’t seed until trees leaf out.

Trees really leafed out here last week. Canola planted last week is safe in the ground still, got this lovely rain, and should be set to go.

The scale up in acres puts the pressure on to get the seed in the ground ASAP. Unfortunately ASAP to get at the dirt doesn’t always equal ASAP for the seedlings. It’s a tough call. Hopefully not too many people take a big hit for it this year.

Kind of ridiculous to get mad at meteorologists and climate supporters and use the season as proof global warming isn’t happening. It was warm enough people started seeding in March.... yet cool enough that Mother Nature was telling everyone “Don’t do it yet!”

So which is it. So warm people can start seeding earlier than they ever have before!

Or so cold that stuff seeded earlier than ever before now needs reseeded?

Obviously it has to be one or the other. The world works in black and white after all.

I think a lot were trying to get canola growing before moisture was depleted
                                hindsight is 20/20
