This release states the plant now "ought" to be operational. Is that still the case? https://www.roquette.com/media-center/news/2020-09-29-roquette-world-largest-pea-protein-plant-portage-canada

As far as I know, they started. They have picked up most of what was contracted. It looks like most of their supply this year will come from Manitoba.

600 million for 250,000 tonnes of peas a year...must be good money in pea protein...which begs the question....why did the government have to put money in?

Everyone is always in awe of the dollars spent and jobs created...

Tell me which major company when doing a startup doesn't receive some type of government concession.

              Why does this surprise you?

It doesn't surprise me but if farmers are not supported in this country the same way these companies are ...this plant will fail as well..

The alternative is what ...3D printing of peas?

Current pea prices of 10 bucks a bushel is 360 bucks tonne into that plant plus freight...

What is the protein worth coming out of the plant to make it profitable?

600 million is a lot of money for what they are processing in tonnes per year...

It would build 12 - 45000 tonne high throughput concretes in the prairies. And those twelve would handle 4MMT of grain.

Building anything today is so expensive.
