That's 18 lbs of actual sulfur and our soil tests show we need 15 lbs for 66 bus.

We have 40 Acre test plots seeded to Canola with 160 lbs N 120 lbs S15 and potash plus coated with Zink.

what is it? 140Lbs N or 160 lbs ?

My 140lbs N and 20lbs S the last 3 years showed no real economic benefit compared to 120 N and 10 S..

You guys are pushing lots of product! I'm putting 345lbs down and thought that was lots.
I seem to recall a discussion with a canola agronomist one time that said 140lbs was max N useable by canola plants. We go with 100-30-20-25 on our canola and use 30% esn and this year did use MeS15 for phos and sulphur. We have 6/7% organic matter and usually no shortage of water that also helps.

Branded a small bunch that’s going to a community pasture later this week which is a first for us. Very little land available anywhere close so we’ll try this as an option.
Just the kids and wife helped me and it’s nice they like to help out more. Not strong enough to run the tag pliers but they can reload it and chase the calves.

These guys had the barley bin run out today and at $6.50+ I don’t feel like opening another one so off to grass they go on Wednesday. I don’t care what anyone else says......... the most wonderful day of the year is when critters get turned loose to feed themselves. Hopefully till November 😉

Aiming to work and move out most of the pairs this week then there’s just the stragglers and opens left which will be nice.

Next winters cow chow is “popping” up which is nice to see. Only 10 days after planting it and we even went deeper to hit moisture.

It’ll like the heat coming our way. The pasture is thirsty and expectations are definitely tempered. There’s lots of silage squirrelled away for these years that pop up but hopefully not required.

By next week we’ll have calved out the most cows ever on this place and it’s the least amount of acres of hay that we’ll be putting up this summer according to my dad. This corn grazing has really shook things up for us.

Hopefully Ma Nature turns on the sprinkler soon............ not gonna stress over it though. Used to do that and nothing good came from it. Besides the crop insurance would be enough to get through till next year to be able to roll the dice again. Bring on summer ........... and hopefully some inflation to the cattle prices🍀

I have found when you push the N higher you need more sulphur and phos to balance it out. The elemental sulphur is not available in the year of application so Im not sure why S15 is being pushed so much.

Wow, a couple days of heat, and the wind,,, gawd the wind!

Sure makes that rain last weekend disappear fast, wow.

Surface baken' like a pottery oven. Will help thin out the canola again, I waited to seed to avoid the frost, but now we'll have losses due to hot an' hard soil.

Of course if we could trust the weather forecasts, we wouldn't have planted as deep as we did.

Worst part is the heat is just coming now,,, of course they won't be wrong with the temp forecast,,, just the rain forecast.

P.S. Who wants to spray peas when the temp is 30-34'C

Ours has two systems for fert first the Anhydrous for our N.

Second, on Wheat is S15 Potash Coated product that has elements added.

The third is S15 without potash and elements.

Our organic matter is 6 to7.

Seems to work.

This wind can go **** off already.

this years soil tests where canola was to go, showed on average: 55lbs N available.. excessive S available.. 18lbs phos..

So we applied: 120lbs N, 10 lbs S, 35lbs phos.. for the canola

We did a 40 acre plot with the above plus an additional 15lbs phos.

wheat: 105lbs N, 7lbs S, 35lbs Phos..

Even with our low available Phos, over the years we have saw sporadic response to phos except on cold springs... So figured it would be a good time to do another little test.


anyone using any of the magic liquids(micros) added to in crop spray?

I don't go for the biggest yield but try to get the most profitable.. at 140 lbs N and 20 lbs S that wasn't happening.. Maybe this year with the jump in canola prices that may have worked out.. But moisture is still the limiting factor in my area. Risk in dry land farming is big enough without adding more, chasing bragging rights yields.
