Worst part of dust chem does not do well on dusty leaves behind wheels.

Everything is started decently. Canola poking through now - some crusting but it doesnt seem to be an issue. No sign of frost damage.

But that 2.5in of rain was soaked up and used pretty fast. Yes could use another quick hitter half inch of rain before spraying.

Later crop catching up fast on stuff seeded a month earlier.

Worst weeds so far is volunteer canola and lentils.

Well we did not get 2, and 1/2 ,
We got an inch and a half.
And I am beginning to think I must have just dreamed
That we got that. It was so dry , it seems the water
Went right past the blue seeds. They are Still in dry dirt
          Waiting for water.

Grasshoppers are the worst especially when there’s not much growth to start with. I haven’t looked or seen any damage yet but I’m sure it’s coming.

I’ll second that order of 2 inches............ this weekend looks promising in the forecast for some showers. Hopefully everyone gets some beer clouds🍻

If canola not germinated after an 1.5 in rain 7 days ago this time of year , hate to say it you have to make calls unless the canola is 2 in deep or more.
Are you sure it never sprouted then died with blue seed coat still intact ? We seen a bit of that . Was seeded into moisture , just enough to sprout then died as soil dried out incredibly fast then got cool for a long time . Or it simply a seed issue

Maybe my post is a bit misleading, that is in the worst
Areas, high traffic. , most of the field has enough plants.
I do have a bit of Beach sand on one peice.that is in the same boat. But Not much I can about it at this point anyway.

Ahh , ya lots of that I seen in area , even cereals. We have areas like that and ridge tops that were in dry dirt, just started to emerge yesterday . That’s 8 days after the rain .
Challenging spring for establishment of any crops .

furrow , on that seed size issue what can a person do ?
i reluctantly ordered BASF seed for two quarters because of the rebate bullshit as we use all their fungicides and seed treatments
                    I told retailer i wanted B or c seed
when it came it was all A (dockage masquerading as seed), all the 255 around here was
this is one of the biggest scams going
the ****ing bags are only 42 lbs so its $16.50/lb
they are loose and hard to handle because they aren't full , its a joke, and to add insult to injury , they are going around passing out free seed to people that don't buy their products
anyways , BASF has lost me as a customer for canola seed and now fungicides and seed treatments as well
they have lost sight of the fact that the customer is always right
and as far as I'm concerned they can go **** themselves
