    Veg oil to the moooon

Wow, what does the market know? Nearby beanoil is back above $70 and November Canola is over $760 at the moment.

Normally at this time of year futures are trending down in anticipation of replenished stockpiles. This countercyclical run-up is a bit unnerving.

Canola crop will not be replenishing any stocks this year...things would have to be perfect weather wise going forward to produce an average crop. That means rain every week. In this general area the roots have nothing to tap into below....nothing...An inch of rain on May 18th won't grow a lentil crop let alone a canola crop.

BUT....what the phuck do i know?

No big crop of canola this year. I have problems with crusting after that 2 in rain and snow May 18, then frost on the 20 th so slow emergence and then the flee beetles having a hay day after that. The seed treatment knocked them down but they did eat more than I expected. Now weeds are getting ahead of the crop. Canola conditions 3/10. Early seeded wheat does look good.

Just read this the other day too.

So, not only is demand for animal and human consumption increasing, and green diesel becoming a huge thing, it is also being used in tires.

Remember about 10 yrs ago the food vs fuel debate? Cant use food to fight climate change. FF 10yrs later and its throw everything you can at climate change consequences be damned. You can count on the green crowd protesting energy and food prices in a few yrs time.

The big crop potential at least in sask is teetering on the edge right now. Going to be hard to see above average yields come fall. Need a couple good soakers this month and next.

Lots of canola fields blowing today and a long ways from getting fields covered. Grass was crunching under my feet while fencing and pasture looked greener a week ago. Wheat still looks ok but days are numbered for that early stuff for average yield.

If they mandate 10% veg oil in bio-diesel in the G20 how many additional tonnes required?

Paging Macdon02! He had the legwork and math all done on this...

o right, we thought it better to spar over the phucking Rona than talk something meaningful on the "commodity forum", and he decided, amongst others, to peace out from this dumpster fire.
