    On a lighter note , Lamb !!!

So I met sheepwheat one night last week and purchased a couple BBQ packs of his lamb meat
Wow , is it ever good !!!!!
I have always liked lamb but this is by far the best I have ever tasted !!!
If you like lamb , or even if you don’t , try it , you will be amazed
Support an up and coming local Sask business
He delivers to quite a few places
For us Norteasteners , he comes to Tisdale and Nipawin once in a while , we were able to hook up at Humboldt Broncos crash site
    Unbelievably good tasting !

It was great to meet you caseih. Putting a face and a real name to an agriviller is always cool. Glad you liked the lamb, thanks for your kind words.

I was telling caseih that we had a movie like boardroom meeting on the weekend with a group from Saskatoon. Big screen, cushy chairs, the works! Dragons den esque. We did our pitch, they did theirs, and we hope something significant comes of it of course, but that is plain, sheer marketing in the flesh.

Might have to put some of these experiences on this here marketing forum someday. For someone who is not a people person in the least, (I could live the rest of my life in the bush as a hermit), I’m sure enjoying this ride! My wife is a huge factor in all this. I like to think we make a decent team.

    Thanks again, case!

Good god guys! Wish I would have got the invite. That's only 6 miles from my farm.

Have never really tried lamb but this would have been a good opportunity to try some.

Seldomseen. I knew you were in that region somewhere. Tell me what cut you’d like to try, and I’ll bring you some next time we’re up there! Check out our website at redbarnfamilyfarm.com to get an idea what you may wish to try. We always give away samples. I gave caseih an agriville special addition to his order. lol

Just waiting for an email from a potential buyer at Nipawin. We may be back up there sooner than we thought.

Great website. Had to look up what shishiki was to understand what the rage was. I’ve never ate lamb more than a couple times. Wife says across the pond lamb is great but here is not as good. Darn it’s too bad you couldn’t get this way west with a few pounds for my little coyotes to try.

You’re far nw sask? Ever in Saskatoon? We deliver there a lot.

A thing about Canadian lamb vs. imported lamb. We have a VERY immature market, because we can only produce 40 % of domestic consumption. So what happens is to try and meet demand, the Canadian lamb you get in a box from sungold, or wherever, is going to be inconsistent product, because our industry draws from so many different farms it isn’t even funny. There could be any number of breeds, raised using any number of feeds, from any number of farms. Canadian lamb is therefore less consistent than places like Australia, New Zealand, etc., because their industry is far ahead of ours. Our average flock size is something like thirty ewes. An immature and inconsistent industry. Red Barn Family Farm is trying to change the Canadian lamb dining experience!

It would be like if Canada imported 60% of the wheat we consume from the us northern states. Then we try to top the total consumption off with wheat from seventy thousand fifty acre farms, and blending it into domestic flour, and hoping for good results. There would be swsw, cpsr, hrww, low protein, high protein, and so on and so on. And we would wonder why our domestic flour was so poor!

That’s my theory anyway! lol I totally understand if it doesn’t make sense. I think it, among other reasons, breeds, finishing rations etc., explains though why some folks have had poor domestic lamb experiences.

We tried a Costco (Kirkland) boneless leg of lamb on Sunday. We marinated for 2 days. Gotta say it tasted pretty sheepie. We always bought Terry’s shishliki at Canora, bring back fond memories.

                        Sheep

Do you ever do “bone in” shishliki?

I see this option on your site but I think it is boneless

It’s boneless yes. We have done bone in stew meat, but there is precious little available to be had on a lamb.

have had that also, turns a lot of people off "sheep" meat
none of that with sheepwheats meat, he is obviously doing it right , (i.e. lamb!)
breed probably also comes into play
                            his shisliki is gourmet
