Most people don't go camping to get out to the great outdoors they just want a break from all the crap back home. Always lots of work staring at you on the farm so thats the only way to get a break from it so it seems.

Everyone has a watch but no one seems to have any time. You'll never see a Uhaul behind a hearse.

Think you can stick a fork in this crop around here.

Durum dessicating anywhere that was protilled last fall as a fire break. That tells me the crop is living on last winters snow which while reasonably plentiful, certainly wont be enough to stave off 10 days of 90°+ heat.

Oilseeds just blooming, and blue with wilting leaves.

        Cereals turning blue.

In-laws is in deep shit... cereals dessicating that haven't even made it to the flag leaf yet. There wont be a combine on any of those fields except possibly some low spots. Getting seed back is going to be an issue.

        UGLY!

Wheat heading out. Canola bolting and emerging. Short stunted crop going backwards. Two more weeks of heat will finish it.

            I’ll second that.

We didn’t go camping but instead stayed in a hotel with a water slide and pool. Managed to get it for 2 hours with just the cousins which is nice since everything was shut down all spring and winter.

I live in the main yard so I hear cows and see all the to-do projects all day long. I don’t notice it as much at night since the yardlight died in the winter. It’s also on “the list”. Besides if the kids only see me work and being stressed out why would they want to even consider doing the same thing as me?

Going to Miette hot springs and staying in the cabins is my preference but they’re not open yet.

Get out and enjoy life………… nobody gets out of here alive🍀

Only field I did try years ago when the dew was dripping wet was poor wild oat control, so I never tried again.
Broadleaf control generally not effected by dew , but grass control can be marginal on dewy mornings
An extra jug of merge helps early morning and late evening if you have too
Half the time during spraying season the wind is too high by even 7:30 am

Sad to hear , unfortunately many areas will be in same boat in the next 5-7 days

This is s we hat drives me nut when they were predicting farmer to reap bring it’s of record prices and net incomes were to skyrocket ...... yup even before this crop was in the ground
Either complete idiots or simply trying to justify the huge increase in input prices and carbon tax increases as insignificant....... well it’s an issue now already before July 1
Never ever should they say crap like that before the season even begins

There are a lot of FOMO farmers around this yr that must be scratching their heads. Sold everything last fall and missed the rally, then went all in on this yrs crop booking fall contracts.

Hope that act of god clause is rock solid.

we also have some land sales here that went $1000 an acre above last yrs price.

If some farmers were at the tables in Vegas, they would be all in all the time.

Fun is what you make of it. Maybe sitting out with a friend in the evening while trying to pop a pesky beaver in the head could be a start. My dad only started taking trips and getting away 7 or 8 years ago which was a huge change for him. If he did it I’m pretty sure anyone could as he was definitely a workaholic.

I find my outlook and productivity improve after an escape as well. Not to mention that it helps keep my amazing wife happier and that’s priceless. 🍀

Woodland, you must have a good watchman back at home for those cows. We never had a summer vacation in all the yrs my dad was raising cattle. Between that and the crops (which were always coming off in August in SW Sk) it was just one project after another on our place. My dad still doesnt know how to vacation at the ripe old age of 80.

                        Dont make that mistake.
