Durum pushing real hard on $10. ND crop must be toast as well as lots in SW sask.

Half done the hay, yields approx 1.5T/Ac which is half normal.
I ordered more grain bins back in March, thinking about cancelling them. Price was good before the markups so not sure. Will prices ever come back down to what they were.

Hopefully canola goes up to $37 a bushel to make up for the 10 bushel crop that is going to be harvested....it is fricken ugly.

How are people deciding whether or not to spray fungicides this year. I know the crap ones get a big X but the average looking crops do they get it? Cnl at $18.. barley at $6.. wht at $9, it’s hard to park the sprayer.

Personally I think I’ll spray the peas, barley and maybe enough Cnl to max out my one chem rebate program 🤦.

Fungicides are real easy to decide to spray or not.

They don't show a bump if humidity is under 50% and if you're dry with heat. Flooding excess water you can spray till your blue in the face won't stop the disease.

Normal conditions yes they work and give great crops.

Dew on Sun to Tuesday. Since then zero Dew.

I have two test plots that will get done the rest is a no-spray this year.

Your cost of Spray and time outpaces your bonus. no bonus this year.

Week more of heat and it's a total shit show in Sask.

What happened to the line " ...we are all in this together ...."

Seems like farmers will be left out again.

Map doesn’t show much hope for rain, looks like at least 60% of western Canada crop land will receive less than 4/10” of rain in the next week.

A week out could be a "carrot" to keep us sane .

No theories but. Canola here too weirdly lethargic all spring. Everyone's.
Temps a suspect looking at worked dirt and not. Trash played in. Crusting in places. Depth. Seeding dates. Soil types.
Now even the average looking ones struggling. If overcast and wet for a while soon, flowering can linger.
                            Wait and see.
Peas, no idea what happens when rain.
                            Flowers don't last long today.
Wheat still looks good for the conditions. Clock ticking.
                            Glad I planted no barley.
                            Solving our straw problem daily.
Check book officially closed for business. Finishing repair projects thats it.

Nice looking hay. The weather was so catchy here that we ended up wrapping all of our first cut except for one little corner of all grass hay.

Are prices ever coming back down - it will be interesting to see what happens to retail lumber.

Futures chart is astounding to look at - went from about $251 on March 30, 2020 to a high of $1711 this past May to plunge to $695 today.

How much will the retail follow? There must be a few guys that got caught somewhere in that roller coaster, some days 10% swing on a high value commodity.
