"Bill C-208 An Act To Amend The Income Tax Act allows net profits on the sale of farms, fishing corporations and other small businesses to family members to be taxed at a capital gains rate of about 25 percent from the current taxable dividend rate of 45 percent. MP Maguire told legislators the bill would save business owners hundreds of thousands when keeping property in the family.

The bill was endorsed by the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, Grain Growers of Canada and Canadian Federation of Independent Business."
