    Drought cycle

Again for those that laughed at the “20 year cycles”

Not exactly 20 years but no cycle is exact in nature

Question is. how long will this one last. Technically a drought last yr too. Subsoil saved that crop.

It has been my completely unscientific observation that weather extremes seasonal events seems to last for 3 years. Dry springs, or wet springs, fall snow, snowy winters, hail, summer floods, hot summers, cold summers, bare winters etc.

And that 3 years is just long enough to think this must be the new normal and adjust accordingly, just in time for the complete opposite to occur.

Outside of 01’ to 04’ every time I had a poor canola crop, and I cut acres back the following year is when I have a dandy. Well, I cut back this year and crop still sucks. Cousin hauls all over and says this country looks great compared to anywhere else. FML that’s downright depressing. Screw climate change browbeating by our resident troll. Drought is a part of life but downright disheartening and career ending for some. I know my canola acres will be down next year. Even here I think we are going into a drying trend. Last year kinda got dryer than the year previous. Similar trend happened through the 90’s and ended 2003. Sure we had years where we had good rain and good crops but the trend you know.

Does not matter what you call current conditions, it is still ugly. We have been below average for the last 4 years.
