Crop tour 2021 just one farmer with his 2 sons who farm.

Day one Regina to melville down to Indian head south back to Regina.

Hit and miss where it’s raining good but no huge bumper crop. growth is nice fields look better but issues and poor spots still can be found.

If you missed a rain or the heat cooked your canola and flower blast you have issues. Could be five miles away and have a wreck and it doesn’t matter if your soil is better. Time of seeding has no bearing also.

So far Regina to the valley good then it drops off fast for a bit before melville looks better. Indian head is a sweet spot but with 6 inches of rain so far it should be. Nice but no extreme yields. Area has potential if showers continue to hit to fend off the heat.

    No 100 wheat
    No 70 canola
    No 120 barley
    No 75 peas

Day two Cupar Southey foam lake canora wadena kelvington

Maybe SKF can adopt me and my acres after 2021 is in the books.

Would love to head to the lake, but have to be on guard for hoppers now. Last indignity of the season, fighting off hoppers while the crop cooks and not knowing where to say f it anymore.

Came back through the reserve this morning I’m hauling gravel for a fertilizer yard site. **** having the idiots hold supply. Rained nice for about five miles just before the east side very nice rain. To late but very nice shower.

Leaving tomorrow at 4 am for day 3. Today we have to go look at a 4020 so off exploring we go will have results tomorrow for day 2 of the tour.

If it’s thick we get out and look at pods and count. If thin why bother all the rain won’t make grain any more.

Yes yesterday had a funny group of two black extend cab trucks follow me to the valley with 4 guys with phones and gear looking at something. Both vehicles were together as they passed same time and turned into Tim’s in Fort early morning. Weren’t a swat team for sure.

Also more Cargill and pioneer trucks around on back roads and catching guys in fields as you drive around.

Maybe they actually are looking instead of trusting Niel a complete idiot.

Kamsack to Canora down to foam then over to Lipton to Cupar south to Balgonie and into the city. All have some ok and some are starting to go backward a rain here or there and it makes one's farm look good. Still, nothing really outstanding in Canola that's the surprise Like one guy up at Kamsack said some great some ok some ugly.

Canora fields showing up poor areas fast as spotty showers don't make grain only on a few lucky fields.

Foam has had the rain event but some fields still are just setting seeds and heading for the finish. Will fill.

Wheat did a count south of Cupar should make in the 60s but nothing 90 for Brandon. Cupar south has some that look like a sweet spot in the nice dirt. But the hail last big rain was awful and did lots of damage. Mostly in the hangers for wheat. Then got closer to the valley and everything drops. Crossed south to Balgonie and guys corn Blue color barley for feed short and green spots turning in rest.

Good reporting...but let's cut to the chase...do you see a 37.5 bpa canola average.?

And other than a few sweet spots . What will be the result of this shitty crop for alot of farmers?

The average age of farmers is 57...if you are strictly cow calf ...do you want to sell the herd , take the deferral, and start getting kicked in the gut to get a quality herd at age 60????

The east side has some bot bad but not one 60 BPA any where just saying seen yesterday nice north Regina to Serath north starts going down hill and yes Kandahar is like Afghanistan. Barley you can throw a Coors can and find it.

Canola at Wynard has some issues.

One thing later seeded that caught rain missed first heat wave looks better but the next week could do the same as the early.

Hail in strips here and their.

                  Smoky this morning.

I would like to know how he came up with that number since last year the east side was ok and west side canola was good and south was ok.

How much will get harvested in some areas

But I also don’t think it will be below 11 now.
                  East ha something.

Unless the west side is total shit.

1500 head went through the Heartland auction in swift current last Tuesday...thats a precursor to what you will see out west...not rocket science....they usually don't sell 40 cows in the middle of July in Swift current.

I think even you will be amazed at how shitty the crops are out west.

Our canola production is centered along the yellowhead hwy and a corridor in central AB. A tour needs to go deeply into those areas to reflect the true numbers.

From personal travel the southern AB corridor looks fairly decimated, but NE sask could have a surprise for us. More spring rains and slightly coolers temps coming into that area now. Most of the northern belt will get a 5 deg reprieve coming up.
