2021 told 1930's - Hold my beer
Temperatures soared in western Canada, with Lytton in British Columbia recording the highest temperature in the country, a staggering 49.6C. The temperature smashed the previous Canadian record of 45C from 1937, as well as the record for the highest temperature recorded north of 50N latitude – which stood at 44.4C in July 1941.

“To break a national heat record by more than 8F over three days … words fail,†tweeted Bob Henson, a meteorologist and freelance journalist.
Claire Martin, a meteorologist for Environment Canada, the country’s weather and climate agency, expressed the same sentiment upon learning the news: “Words fail me.â€
It’s hotter than any temperature recorded in the Lower 48 states outside the Desert Southwest. Only four states have seen a higher temperature. It’s even 4 degrees above Las Vegas’s all-time high of 117 and just one degree from Phoenix’s all-time high of 122.
It’s hotter than any temperature observed in Europe or South America, according to world weather records expert Maximiliano Herrera. Only 26 countries on the planet have been as hot or hotter, he wrote.
It is the most extreme high temperature observed north of 45 degrees latitude, according to Herrera.
It was the highest temperature in North America on Tuesday, tied with Death Valley, Calif., notorious for holding the record for the planet’s most extreme heat.
Lytton’s average high temperature at this time of year is a mere 77 degrees, meaning Tuesday’s record high was nearly 45 degrees above normal.
Might want to rethink that "hotter in the 1930's" BS.

Yellow Grass SK set the record high temperature in Canada which was not broken for 84 years. 113 F.
To keep a record for 84 years is amazing!
For Saskatoon in the 11 day stretch from July 14-July 24 the record high temperature of 40C was set in 1919 and tied in 1941. Amazing! That was 80 years ago and it still stands!

1941 - June cooling degree days was 54.3. 2021 was 50
1941 - July cooling degree days was 114.6. We will need a daily mean temp of 20.78 for the remainder of July to beat that. It might be close.Last edited by farming101; Jul 19, 2021, 15:37.

Bootleg fire in Oregon may moderate our weather. Apparently the pyrocumulus clouds are billowing up into the atmosphere and adhering to water particles. If weather change is finally here, its a little late for the early crops but might save a few late ones.
