GGC thanks but no thanks for your 50% correct statement

GGC announced the drastic need to drop politics
And find help for the severe drought. Thank you
Very much for that statement. That part is very true.
But then went on to say that increasing agristability
To 80% is the answer. Sorry it’s not. All of the
Current Ag ministers know this all farmers know this
Increasing payments 10% from a level of basically
Nothing and having to go through all that horseshit
To sign up and having to wait for all the verification
And all the costs of the accountants. Sorry
NO THANKS. That will be too little too late.

Scrap that horseshit get a payment out to ranchers
Immediately grain growers after harvest. Then long
    Overdue fix up crop insurance.
Possibly look at paying crop insurance out at 100%
Of coverage with an add on of the market prices.

Do you know how long it would take a bureaucrat to understand what you have just said?

How many meetings to dissect that idea until it was no longer a rational thought?

    Sarcasm.

I think they should just up it to 100% coverage of the margin on agri-stability, We have paid the dues for years and the accountants so to let everyone enter now with no penalty would be a slap in the face to the ones that have paid to be in the program. Ya it isn't a great program but is that any reason not to be enrolled? It is very inexpensive in my opinion probably $0.75 per acre. Maybe you should ask your accountants advice now that we have a disaster if you should have enrolled.

I already have it will pay next to nothing even at
80% we ve been in a drought for years not just
This one. And it’s the exact same problem with crop insurance
I bet everyone is just giddy about adding another
Zero or near zero to our averages going for ward
For the next 10 years????? And the next 5 years.
We have to leave this concept behind it’s a failure
Which is evident by as you say being so cheap and yet
2/3 if farmers or whatever the high number is aren’t
        Even enrolled.
And I couldn’t imagine anyone not in it asking their accountants
And paying them to go back 5 years and figure out
All that information big bill and no guarantee of anything
And when would all those new applications get processed
They’re so inefficient and dense in Melville that
They can’t even handle what’s there now in a timely
Fashion. It’s cause for some sort of revolt by all of us
        And especially the ranchers also.

The 10% increase is not a bad idea... BUT INCREASE CROP INSURANCE TO 90% [from 80%] FOR THOSE WHO NEED THE COVERAGE.

THIS WOULD BE BETTER FOR EVERYONE. Keep it simple... In Alberta over 60% are in crop insurance... if it is good insurance,,, farmers will participate!

          Cheers

PS... if they want to keep it simple... and improve participation, No crop insurance premiums due, premiums are interest free
until audit is finished in Feb of the next year, and can be deducted from any payout! Why have bill come due at the worst time of the year, June 25?

Even if you do it might be a 10-15% top up.
if you are responsible enough to buy hail and crop insurance , it is impossible
our crop ins bill just came
premium averaged $13 per acre ($2.66 /acre is for too wet to seed coverage)
            around $1.4M for $42000 premium , about 3%
            can't imagine being without it
and $2.66 per acre was for "too wet to seed" which comes in handy in the swamp at times
            collected on hailstorm last year
doubt if we will collect this year ,unless hail returns, but i can sleep at night.........

That's maybe why you Sk guys dont have as good of crop insurance. My risk area is closer to 8/9% for 80% coverage.(ab) That does include spot loss hail coverage which is the only type of crop insurance claim this farm has ever made until 2021.

Edit in, partly false, did get paid snowed under crop allowance in 2019.

It is another 2.7-3.2% depending on location

no good cropinsurance available in risk area 9 and 12 premium way to high here in the neighbourhood of 12 to 15 % of coverage just 12 miles north and west of here the premium is about 4 or 5 %. So what be fair about that. This is east central Alberta
