Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

It’s a great week if your a rattle snake in Saskatchewan. Hot dry and a bit of wind to throw into the mixture.

Never heard a peep from our federal Ag Minster this week it seems we don’t fit the federal re-election consideration and what you have a little drought that’s nothing. The feds pissed away 5 billion on cheap daycare plus bailed out Newfoundland another useless tit sucking off the west in canada.

Saskatchewan needs to get their shit together and start addressing this drought. But nothing.

So basically boys hunker down we’re in this one on our own like always with little to no help.

I have been in Manitoba since Friday heading home today and yes we are bot in this one alone. Canola in the portage to Winnipeg corridor is some of the ugliest I have seen in my western canada tours. If I ever won the 60 mill lotto max I would buy a small farm in that strip and play. Well this year I am questioning that lotto max dream!

Good video from a guy from north of Edmonton all the way to Medicine Hat. He stopped ever 50 miles and video taped canola barley and wheat crops you can see where the problems start and end.

    Here is the sask report!

Hrs is burning fast some are wondering should I kill what’s left or just let Mother Nature burn it off. If you have a contract with a grain company and you can’t get out you can’t give to a cowboy for feed.

Two weeks ago I said 90 plus was gone now I say 60 is gone and probably less than half a wheat crop for our area. This final push of heat didn’t help fill worth shit. To those in other countries who read this and I know there are a few. In canada a rain in last part of July doesn’t make for a big crop still can happen. In canada after June 23 the days get shorter and it seems faster. The nights get cooler and the day temp gets cooler. We’re a northern Arctic climate. Rain now just will help fill what’s there and you might gain a bit on weight. Problem that can happen if your crop is really fu ked by drought a big rain and heat is like a hail event it might start growing from the root you will need 90 days to get a crop of wheat that means harvesting in November and we have snow and about 10 frost days before that time.
What’s here now is what we have for 2021. More heat will just take away yield from now on.

Barley is a crop that doesn’t like the heat. Our looked not bad after the big 2/10 it got last week when Indian head had 2.5 inches. But it is turning fast and we will swath probably in two weeks then combine in 3 to 5 days. I have a malt contract. Yield will be half last year 50 to 60.

Oats is burning and you can sure see it shrinking in height a sign of water issues. Yield will be down and weight could be a issue.

Flax is finished flowering and setting seed fast.

Peas early will be ok but if yours were flowering like our later your fu ked for sure they did not like the heat from two Friday’s ago. Yield 10 to 20 best. Seen a 4 and it’s ugly.

Lentils haven’t had time to check but seems they will produce something just jot sure how much will yield.

Canola the early is done all flowering and shit down lots of blanks and piss poor pods. Couple bigger ones on bottom won’t make up for the shit show higher up. Funny observation all over western canada the most expensive crop to seed as far as price of seed is the worst crop in drought 2021. I guess all the fees and extra seed costs went into company profits instead of quality seed. We’re getting gouged for a seed that should be half its cost. Only crop with shitty results and all the best scientists developing new varieties can’t make a crop. Sad really farmers get ****ed again.
Real shock is how bad this crop is from Calgary to Winnipeg with the only spot I seen bread canola field is Indian head. It’s sad when your farm is only about 15 miles north of some of the best crops and the rain just couldn’t move that extra few miles thanks to the Qu’Appelle valley for divide and conquer this year. I’ll have better yield analysis next week.

Pastures are almost done guys feeding already and green feed seeded later is ugly. No second cut on hay in our area cow boys are in tough. I’ll bale all out barley straw and some wheat. Maybe peas also.

So the weather looks hot again for another week maybe a storm tomorrow hail has happened to a sweet spot from foam lake to Hudson Bay and madge area got pounded other night. Cupar had damage a couple weeks ago. Hail storms when hit this year are big.

Combines are out and most are wondering what to do with such a short poorer crop and what to spray to kill or not and do I dare swath a uneven canola crop and chance the wind.

    Always something on the farm.

Needed to get away for some r and r and it does feel good to not sit and watch your crop die.

Have a great week and please please if your having a rough time get help and talk to others it’s not a sign of weakness. Also talk to your banker before the shit show happens because later head office might be making decisions you really don’t like.

Talk to grain companies even if they don’t want to hear from you.

Be safe and hug your family.

So another **** in ADMIS comes out today and said Canada’s canola crop has a few issues is now 19 mt. Like where are these idiots looking so they fly into Indian head and look at one guys fields and say yep a little lower than the 70 usual all is good.

I my self am getting sick and tired of **** ups doing crop reports. Canola is in trouble wake up you ****ing fools. After this Manitoba drive I now can confirm it will be under 15 mt. Have a good day wake the **** up idiots.

Just off perimeter road in Winnipeg.

It will be hard keeping the pepper in the combine or out of the dockage.

Are most of the bad canola acres in MB reseeded after that big frost?

Our lame media is grabbing on to climate change and ignoring all other conditions we faced down.

And there have been frosts in Brazil, Africa and Australia - all ignored.

Farmers are getting the Fort McMurray fire treatment from the politicians and woke left that this is all our own fault and we are now to blame for inflation too.

I remember the 80s we were big canola growers back then in our area about 1/3 of the farm was canola. Pepper isn’t fun load a tandem heaping full and get to the scale 486 bus you just about cried.

On wheat the ND wheat council has boots on the ground and is finding out that the crop just isn’t that good knee high and low fill or 58% of normal. I’m saying ours might be the same or lower unless you won the rain lotto.

One section of spring wheat was swath on Saturday just north of Winnipeg and with yesterday’s heat I expect the guy to be harvesting it today when I’m heading home. It made a swath looks like swift current swath in a normal dry year not Winnipeg swaths

I agree climate scam is full force but they don’t mention like less Henry said 2002 1988 1961 and oh the 1930s horse and buggy’s days I guess the horses farted lots.

Grass harvest is on the go.

The first picture is spring wheat ripe and getting ready to be harvested soon.

I have to ask why do foreign groups still try to talk up the Canadian canola crop when even now sask canola says it’s fu ked.

To stupid people world wide who think this crop is under estimated try growing a crop with no rain since June.

                In summer heat

Let’s guess the day canada announces there will be no export sales for canola from canada in 2021.

Not all the crops are garbage in Mb but the place that’s usually the best is taking it pretty hard. Anywhere from Avg to disaste which is to to expected considering

Son is swathing my barley that crop ins. wrote off 15 bu/acre. Something to bale when I get back home. My canola looks just like some of that stuff by Saskatoon . We are counting the days left on our last dugout then everybody will be relying on well water. Pastures look greener here around Edmonton's cattle country.

Early seeded lentils are being combined near us now. The first farmer out is always the first farmer out harvesting. The sample is beautiful but many small lentils in mix. They are yielding about 1000 lbs. 320 acres times 16 bushel equal 5120 bushels. That land got about 5 inches of rain this year and was Canaryseed stubble. The later lentils may not yield as well. Ours are grass-green (I’ve seen fatter pods before) and being protected from grasshoppers by air and perimeter spray. The planes haven’t stopped and won’t be anytime soon as hoppers also threaten what little Canola is there. The durum looks good from the road but you can be certain that the kernels won’t be too fat. The gumbo isn’t cracking like in other years as we haven’t lost a hammer yet this year. 😂 It’s anyone’s guess about the need for half the bins or a bit better but if these temps stay in the thirties, i am pretty sure filling half those bins will be a challenge. We are a lap away from the finish line and any rain would still help to cool her down. Maybe tonight👍

This isn’t my area but pretty much sums up the devastation that is out there. Anyone that has “something” should be very thankful for what they do have. It might not be 50 durum 70 wheat or 60 canola, but most of western Canada will be wondering if it’s worth while pulling out the combines.

I know of one guy combining 3 bu lentils.

It’s going to be a long winter for grain companies, and everyone else connected with ag. Small towns will look like ghost towns, cities will feel the effects also, but will never admit it.

                        Take care everyone!!

Peas started coming off half hour south of here this week. 17 bpa. Figure wheat is going to be about the same.

                            Here’s a different angle
Honey producers are feeding bees instead of extracting honey
Dumb fu cks in govt have no idea how huge this is
If there is a quality problem with your contracted grain just leave it in the bin until problem goes away
Harvest Happy hour with fuz, ergot , etc in attendance, has officially been cancelled

Bigzee. For farmers this is definitely not what we want but maybe that dumb *** in Ottawa will see how real jobs are made and lost when there is nothing started at the ground floor. Gonna be lots of truckers looking for product and snake oil sales men like the Maytag repairman.
