From memory, unless u go back to 80s. Those willing are already working. Always. Usually someone from within your sphere is who you find. Usually someone from our culture; ie small town western Canada. Eng, Aus, NZ exceptions.
Off the street hires a cat in a sack.
Sense of entitlement, or trained not to think, or trained not to work, or just plain dumb.
Entitlement thinking/training increasing all the time. Exponentially lately.
Really all we want depending on responsibility, is a team attitude.
    No I in team.

For years ag in AB has struggled to find workers because the patch pays more. Now benefits do. It’s not a new situation. Honestly, I’ve never met a pickier group of employers than farmers which seems weird in conjunction with the fact that I’ve never met more drunken, unlicensed, skeptical people than some employed by said farmers.

To easily gain access to ag employment word of mouth is almost entirely needed. Someone needs to recommend you to a friend of a friend.
Just need to run out in the patch to see both ends of the spectrum. Great people and not so great.

Our current man has been with us for 11 years. His pay and benefits are better than most University grads. He has grade 2 education but just a very smart individual. Feel very fortunate to have him work with us.

So, how much duct tape does it take to keep Timothy seed from falling through the combine, the truck, the augers, the bin doors? With some of my worn out full of holes augers, there would be nothing make it out the top.

Ok I’m putting the word out… I need an employee with some farm experience. Not a lot of pay but they will gain valuable life experience and can feel proud of their accomplishments. Is that not important anymore?
My point is that we have never had this issue before and excessive government waste and incompetence is to blame.

Cereals are going from green to harvestable in under 6 days. Subsoil moisture has finally been completely exhausted. Shallow rooted trees in the yard are giving up, and I've heard of one inidividual having issues with his water well.

Peas starting to come off with initial yields of 6-8bpa. And those fields looked not bad. There are ALOT worse.

Even chemfallow burning badly now. It should have at least filled respectably.

On grain delivery to strathmore a couple days ago, guys are turning cows into all sorts of cropland now. If it's fenced, they're grazing it off. There's nothing to bale, but at least it'll get the cattle guys a few more days down the feed shortage road.

Just an old Case combine and it all seems to stay inside.

Maybe that Case Equ is better than people think. What do you think CaseIH?

1030RR Nexera seeded May 20, 2021 just north of Killam on South side of Hwy 36. Just missed the hail this afternoon… misty thudery day!

Cheers… looks like decent pods for Nexera!
