After the widespread sex abuse scandals and residential schools experience in Canada do catholics and numerous other churches have the moral and ethical standing to instruct the world on what is right and wrong? I don't think so.

Law has dealt with abortion.

An equivalent analogy would be a virus vs a virus as in Covid-19 vs AIDs, and how law deals with one, and how law will deal with the new one.
A Rider linebacker was given a prison sentence, served it, and was punted back to his citizenship country. This all at the time that AIDS, developing to HIV, was not a death sentence due to a drug regimen to control it.

Do we have Covid-19 law? I have to believe that in 4 million world wide deaths from it, that there had to have been some deliberate spread that was a death sentence to at least one of these lost souls. Yet, the prevailing attitude is, on here, "what is wrong with your immune system that I can't give this to you, and you can't recover". It may be determined that when the lawsuits fly, that you as a deliberate spreader did not do all that you could have done to prevent that, or those deaths, like take the damn vaccine.

With freedom comes responsibility. They are linked. Tom met that duty. What about the rest of you?

The precedent was set with another virus, or maybe like the Capitol rioters you believe in safety in numbers. Let's see how that works out before you pooh pooh the sue crazy world. I'm astounded that you of all people would let China off so easily.

Or the analogy of a plow wind. Doesn't matter to insurance when hundreds have claims in an event. They bent over backwards to pay out, fraud or not, but if just one has a claim, not going to happen.
