    And in other news

    copied from Agriweek.

China’s 16 largest hog producers, with western-style confinement
facilities mostly built in the past 18
    months with government assistance,
    produced 42.8 million slaughter
hogs during the first half of calendar
2021, more than double output in the
same part of the prior year.

Even Chuck couldn't get an outhouse built in this country.

    Priorities
The federal government is granting $25 million to four environmental organizations under the Nature Smart Climate Solutions fund
    for projects in Manitoba. Ducks
Unlimited will get $19.3 million to
restore 35,000 acres of wetlands and
native grass, a stunning $551 per
    acre.

    And where it's going
The appalling thing is not so
    much that the Trudeau government
is sending out $500 voter appreciation cheques to old-age pensioners next month, or that some of
them will go to pensioners no longer
living. It is that the government does
not intend to recover payments to the
dead. The Liberal cabinet must have
    realized that successors and assigns
    are voters too.

Just a few Sunday morning perspectives.
    Reflect.

Buying votes all around the table. Smart strategy only if you wanna win an election.

I've read the paragraph regarding China hogs 4 times now.
Having toured their farms and industry 11 years ago,
I still find China an amazing contrast
      to the oblivion prevalent here.

What masks the foolish spending of our government is their robust immigration policy. They spend like drunken sailors and add to the population by 250000 each year.

But going forward, as China's demographic catastrophe gets further into their terminal decline, we will be grateful to have young people who were/are willing to move here and work, start businesses, buy real estate, have children, keep our schools viable etc.

There will come a day when china will sell food to the world for big dollars and Canadian farms will be all gone. It's coming and coming fast.

Canadians would rather buy food from other countries than support Canadian farmers.

              It's rather sick really.

Are you saying that from the lack of any meaningful support of agriculture in Canada the average farmer at age 57 may just say "phuck it"

And tell his kids this is the end of this bullshit, why put them through 30 or 40 years of the same?

The US has sent 100 BILLION dollars to the American farmer over the last 5 years and after Joe Biden being president there was a 20 dollar per acre payment . Thats 25 dollar an acre CDN .

We have a disaster greater than 1988 , water sources dried up , no crop etc...and these guys from all political stripes are sitting on their hands.

The agricultural industry in Canada should be worth more than an airline and steel companies combined...yet they are willing to ignore farmers.
