Neighbour is doing barley, it’s going 35. He talked to three feedlots at Lethbridge and they offered him 11.25 picked up. they said they are a week away from running out of feed. One broker told him it will be in the 15-20 range by Xmas. Has anyone else heard these prices P. S. He paid over 100 grand to buy out of a contract which he gladly did .

Keep in mind that corn will likely be either side of $5.00, given the current crop conditions in most of the US, those numbers seem somewhat loftyLast edited by AlbertaFarmer5; Aug 2, 2021, 20:51.

There ain’t no barley that’s for sure. What you sub in....I don’t know but Getting corn in sask isn’t easy and nobody grew a crop of cobs this year

Unit trains 100 to 110 railcars of U.S. corn DDGs have been booked into southern Alberta for fall movement.

Over 3.7 MMT of barley went to export this crop year. Shoulda never happened. Feeders dragged their feet last fall and now there's none to be had. Even without this drought things were bad for sourcing barley. Hopefully corn and ddg can save things

No way that $11+ barley can be sustained in feedlot alley, would have to be a short term shortage. Lots of corn at almost half the price, just need time to secure supply, $15 - $20 barley, a wet dream. Every other grain would have to move up at the same time, lots of replacements for barley, just plug your formula into a computer to find the least cost ration.

As much as I would love to tell people lock their bins, sell nothing, collect $20 wheat and $30 dollar canola, remember the entire ag world economics are a derivative of corn and beans. A truly massive rally is unlikely without the participation of those two crops. Even if our crops are in short supply, don’t be greedy thinking prices have to go to the moon.

Have to wonder how much is left for all those calves that are going to come to market early weaned.

I spoke to a buyer today and according to him
Much of the canola crop will be sample due
To weight and seed size (dockage) which will be a
major factor In feed rations. How much can canola
be used In livestock feed? I wonder if the standard
For grading will be lowered or be as is?
